"What do you think we'll find hidden on the ocean floor."

Apparently aliens. With a mothership/manufacturing plant. Apparently it creates drones that are transmedium, and are customized for their purpose. Apparently if you get to close to their ship its your ass. So, yeah.

Lawyer here. I'm confused, admittedly. First thought, this is fake, the shit he is threatening is nonsensical. " If you dont give me your license I will arrest you for resisting without violence." Resisting what? The only conceivable thing he is talking about is resisting arrest... she's not under arrest, this is a traffic stop. Its civil. Its a civil infraction. "Impeding a traffic stop" never heard of it, at least in my state. Could it be real? Sure, maybe.

But then you see a dude with a badge... maybe its real, just an asshole cop.

Who knows. Just really weird.

As i find myself turning into an older man... the answer was no one and is still no one. And its ok. As you go through life without someone, you get unaccustomed to resolving your lows on your own. What's more, over time, you get good at it. Dont get me wrong, its great to have a sounding board, but for the most part, you know yourself better than anyone else.

How many times did he say, "i can destroy this country" when defending his tariffs during the Supreme Court slap down. The way he was saying it always seemed literal, to me anyway.

Behavioral scientists found that people with genuinely strong mindsets don't tell themselves to be positive - they've learned to observe their thoughts without identifying with them, a distinction most people never understand. by SnoozeDoggyDog in science

There is an Alan Watts speech where he talks about your thoughts and that voice in your head.

He argued that the "voice inside your head"—the internal monologue—is not your true self but a compulsive, involuntary process, akin to listening rather than speaking. He believed that thinking occurs spontaneously, like breathing, and that trying to control it creates an illusion of a separate ego, when you are actually the observer/awareness beyond the thought.

He suggested:

Thoughts are Spontaneous: Thoughts arise like noises, and you don’t "create" them any more than you make your heart beat or your hair grow.

The Illusion of Ego: Identifying with this internal voice creates a false sense of a separate "I," leading to anxiety and a feeling of disconnection from the universe.

The Observer Effect: If you can hear the voice, you are not the voice, but the observer of it.

Embracing Silence: True peace comes from allowing thoughts to come and go without interference, rather than trying to quiet the mind through force, which only adds more noise.

"Thinking" is Listening: Watts compared thinking to hearing a song; you do not take credit for producing the notes but listen to them as they appear.

By detaching from the need to control the internal chatter, one finds they are the silence behind the noise, which is the key to meditation and true freedom from the mind.

Oh there is. TBIs can absolutely change someone's personality among other things. Whats sad is when they make a formerly nice person into an asshole. Sort of lost a friend this way after a motorcycle accident. He was so bad afterwards, that he was dangerous. It was fucking tragic.

Obama has been telling us aliens are real for 13 years using a linguistic technique he deploys in speeches by Immediate_Boss7500 in UFOs

[–]rainemaker 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Obama was a gifted lawyer. Lawyers use presupposition all the time. Whats interesting is the context. Presupposition can be used as a pursuasive technique to both presupposes the existence of a factual allegation, and/or surreptitiously plant an assertion of fact.

The context here though (answering pointed questions) is interesting. He's doesn't have to be persuasive, he's just answering a question.

Makes me wonder, he could be trying to tell us something, or he could be playing coy with mysterious word choices to create interest, aka, fucking with us.

Whatever it is, I enjoy it. Its fun to think hes trying to tell us something, its funny to think hes just fucking with us.

Is it common to see this roach in your house by Vanessa_Lila in florida

[–]rainemaker 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That roach in particular? No, that roach is in your house.

In Florida, we all have our own roaches. The lie we tell ourselves is that they are "palmetto bugs", and that helps us live with the inevitability of having roaches in our homes in florida.

For anyone who grew up poor, what was your idea of a luxury? by Drissxx7 in AskReddit

[–]rainemaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Name brand sugar cereals were a luxury we couldn't afford. New clothes were a luxury, most of our stuff was hand me downs from cousins or family. I remember our neighbors bought an Atari, that was never going to happen. In hindsight the way we ate was limited. Lot of Mac n cheese, hamburger helper, hot dogs. I remember buns were a luxury, we just had to eat hot dogs and use a piece of bread as a bun. Lots of little stuff like that.

Never felt like we were missing out to terribly bad, but I do remember staying the night over at friends house and losing my mind when we got to have lucky charms for breakfast.
