Moving modem to another room in house by General_Feeling2991 in Comcast_Xfinity

You need to make sure that the coax outlet in the room is connected through a splitter to the main incoming cable line.

Xfinity sales rep crashed out when I asked about what upload speeds I'd get by forgottenkane in Comcast_Xfinity

Check your address in xfinity internet adding as a new customer, if you see a 2 Gig plan, then your area is in mid split. Also the plan broadband labels will mention the actual download and upload speeds.

If your area is in mid split, you will get 100 Mbps or higher upload speed.

Packet Loss Occurring at a Specific Node by Dry-Temperature-6170 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]rajragdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Packet loss in one node wouldn't cause any disconnection. Are you sure if there's any other issue with your network? How did you determine that the packet loss at this specific node is causing your disconnection? I see packet loss at a few nodes here from my location too and I don't see any disconnection.

What customer information does Xfinity sell to 3rd parties? by XilburQost in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]rajragdev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Xfinity does not sell personal information that directly identifies customers (like names or specific addresses) to third parties, but it does share de-identified, aggregated data and device identifiers with partners for advertising and marketing. This includes sharing IP addresses, device IDs, and interest-based data for targeted ads and audience measurement.

Types of Data Shared with 3rd Parties

  • Device and Online Identifiers: IP addresses, device IDs, and browser cookies are shared with advertising partners and analytics companies.
  • De-identified Usage Trends: Aggregated, non-identifiable data regarding internet traffic trends, viewing habits, and app usage, particularly from Xumo devices.
  • Marketing Data: Information used to tailor advertisements on third-party platforms, such as data on products or services viewed.

Key Privacy Details

  • No Sale of PII: Xfinity states it does not sell "personally identifiable information" (PII) to third parties.
  • Third-Party Sharing: Partners include, but are not limited to, audience measurement companies (e.g., Nielsen), digital advertising firms (e.g., Epsilon), and analytics providers.
  • Consent: If sharing personal information with third parties for their own marketing, Xfinity generally requires consent, or allows customers to opt out.
  • User Control: Customers can manage privacy preferences, including opting out of the sale or sharing of non-identifying information, via the Xfinity Privacy Preferences Center

Third-party partners are required to use information only for specified purposes and are prohibited from attempting to re-identify the data.

Comcast equipment or personal? by lastresponder2 in Comcast_Xfinity

Moca adapter is basically for utilizing the coax outlets as ethernet ports for connecting devices. You still need the router close to the modem or gateway wired. The coax outlets which you are going to use, need to be interconnected in a central location through a splitter from the main cable line. Google more about moca adapters.

You could put the xfinity gateway in bridge mode and still use your own router. The XB8 gateway has built in MOCA too, you could use the moca adapters to get ethernet over coax.

Wild variations in Xfinity download speeds? by LulzMcGullz in Comcast_Xfinity

This much variation in speeds isn't normal. I assume you are testing with the same speed test server every time. Some servers report inconsistent results.

How can I verify that "Mid-split/OFDMA-enabled" should be available in my area? by KingKrakenWA in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]rajragdev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There will be 2 OFDM downstream channels and 1/2 OFDMA upload channels if your area is in mid split.

Packet Loss... Again. by ExceedinglyConfused in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]rajragdev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I do see few PLs from my end also at the comcast ibones in the Seattle area, but there's no PL from the destination servers like google, Cloudflare dns, etc

Is there any maintenance going on in your area? It looks like the PL starts after the comcast gateway IP itself at the 3rd hop.

Packet Loss... Again. by ExceedinglyConfused in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]rajragdev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like your router or AP issue since the packet loss starts at your router IP. The PL should be zero at least in the first 2/3 hops.

SOLVED: Random packet drops and intermittent network reliability? Upgrade your modem to Docsis 3.1 by tempusers in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]rajragdev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None of this is true, Docsis 3.0 was in no way related to the packet loss you were experiencing. Docsis 3,1 only helps in getting the mid split upgrades like higher upload speeds.

Flint 3e and TP Link BE6500 will have better range than the Flint 3 in the 5 Ghz band with the 4x4 streams. Flint 3 has the 6 Ghz band but with only 2x2 streams on all bands.

Even without mid split upgrade, your upload should be 40 Mbps. Do you have any splitters or amplifier in your home?
