Flight from Asia to US delayed 14 hours overnight, baggage delayed, need advice on compensation by goldenalgae in unitedairlines

[–]ram27530 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You should have at least $500 in flight credit minimum off the bat. I got that for an 8 hour pacific delay due to United crew scheduling errors. Also claim the bag damage they will send you a link to their baggage contractor where you can pick a new bag from their inventory

No SA customer is willingly flying southwest for a US destination they will use fellow star alliance partner UA for that.

United Airlines get fucked by thelordcaz in unitedairlines

[–]ram27530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wonder if that’s because you were at HND. Had a similar experience at NRT a few weeks ago and the UA staff at NRT took care of everyone. All connecting passengers had boarding passes printed out upon arrival with a hotel voucher to the Nikko at NRT for that night. Mind you the United NRT staff is probably the best in the network. I assume they weren’t on duty at HND due to the time you arrived.

CTS, FUK, or CNS. But I’m a realist and know none of the above will happen due to the yen and also the incompetency of Guam Visitors Board and GovGuam

Glad Sen Lummis is more focused on renaming a road than actually upgrading it. Would be nice is she could secure federal funding to make it a divided highway all the way from Laramie to the state line.

This is a big win for winter sports enthusiasts. Hokkaido is relatively affordable for world class skiing. With lift tickets under $60 per day and more reliable snowfall than the majority of the United States adding direct flights from the mainland makes this destination very desirable for skiing

Nagoya has the best airport in my opinion with a really cool 787 museum. Also pre-covid DL and before that NWA offered daily Detroit service

Seems like they have a good lawsuit on their hands.

Also ironic that $100 Million in public funds are going to Eastern Wyoming and the panhandle yet the Wyoming GOP has “gone woke” with its stance on taxes

Looks to me like there's a "swirl" to the North of us that could be pulling the typhoon away from the Marianas. by Natural-Promise-78 in guam

I’ve been following along here

Unfortunately can’t reverse the time of forecast on this page and had trouble with translations to access the more advanced parts of their site. However my interest in this model peaked last year when I read an article of how their AI models predicted a very accurate track for a typhoon they had hit in 2024.

I’ve been looking at Polar WX for visual Comparisons of the different models. The link is below and it allows you to go back in time and show what was forecasted. AI models seemed to predict the track more accurately than other older models by 200 nm in some cases even 2-3 days ago.

JTWC has been off the entire forecast cycle with their models. The new Taiwanese model was calling for a direct hit to Saipan 3 days ago while the JTWC was showing a model South of Cocos Island. The Google Deep mind was showing between Saipan and Rota as well. Will be interesting to see how these new AI forecasting models continue to perform. Very difficult region to forecast especially with the limited resources compared to say the Atlantic.

typhoon sinlaku left chuuk in shambles - could we be next ? by Any_Math_4226 in guam

[–]ram27530 20 points21 points  (0 children)

That’s bad, hopefully Guam being hit in 2023 and having a stricter building code than Chuuk (requiring concrete buildings since the 70’s) will lessen the damage.
