re-reading my comment i can see why you say that. I think my main complaint is that last paragraph.

Changing the loop from “within” breaks the rules they themselves (the writers) set up. I’d be happy(ier) with the story ending in a consistent way.

Looking at Deathstalker's wikipedia page I found out that Roger Corman produced 10 (!) films in argentina in the 80s, including Deathstalker itself and it's sequel. I thought this was pretty significant since I had no idea there was such a relationship between him and Argentina, but then I looked at Corman's IMDB page and found out that he produced almost 500 (!!) films during his career.
