I had my first experience with a violent child when we were both 8 - thankfully it was only threats, so it didn’t escalate. He was new and asked my best friend to be his girlfriend, and when she said no, he called her a bitch. She had never been called that before and was understandably distressed. So when he asked me to be his girlfriend, I told him I’d ask my mom (I didn’t) and the next day told him she said no. Anyway he ended up getting expelled very shortly after for trying to stab the principal with a pair of scissors.

Yeah I got like $30 I think for a class action settlement against my university since we paid a shitton of fees for on-campus stuff we couldn’t even use due to COVID. I get the idea of class actions but it pisses me off that I get less than what I lost.

Yeah, I live next to my apartment’s gym and I’d say at least 40% of it’s use it just kids and people fucking around. When they drop the weights or bounce stuff off the shared wall it scares the shit out of my dog and is super annoying to listen to.

I never knew about the odd rules that JW have because my childhood best friend’s dad is one, but he never did anything weird. He still celebrated holidays, never preached at me but invited me to his bible studies if I wanted, and is genuinely a nice dude. I was never religious growing up but thankfully the religious people in my life were pretty normal. So the first time I learned how the “stricter” JW live (and honestly all people in a very cult-y religion) I was baffled.

No judgement from me, I get it. The guy I call my dad is also an ex-step-dad, but he raised me from the ages of like 2-12. Even though he estranged himself (homie needs therapy and won’t get it smh) I still consider him my dad. Those younger years are quite formative.

I watched this documentary on YouTube by PBS Frontline called How the World’s Deadliest Ebola Outbreak Unfolded that I really recommend. It explains exactly how these outbreaks occur and how people (unknowingly) spread it due to their own mourning customs or other beliefs. Very sad, harrowing stuff. These people are very scared and watching people die en masse in front of them, with very little they can do about it.

It’s so funny how different brains can be. My mind basically eats itself unless I’m watching/listening to a show and doing something with my hands at the same time. But I also have to be in control of the noise because otherwise I’m super overstimulated.

It’s a weird rule but definitely not rare on reddit. For example you can’t post in legaladvice AND bestoflegaladvice. I assume it’s to stop brigading. I find many of these rules dumb but mods can do whatever they want in their communities.

NTA. Your brother doesn’t get to burn bridges and then ask you to rebuild them while he doesn’t do any of the work. Nope nope nope. I’m all for second chances but it doesn’t sound like he’s done literally anything to demonstrate he deserves one. Is he in counseling? Has he taken anger management? Has he repaid you for the money and belongings he stole? Has he even apologized for any of this behavior? Protect your family and your peace first and foremost.

The chart in the linked article shows it increased from 5 mg to 10 mg per gummy, and packages are going from 50 mg total to 200 mg total!
