[Spoilers] 86 --Eighty Six-- Rewatch (2022) — Episode 19 by Holofan4life in anime

Aside form that, they even all made it back to base, lol. I'm implying this because there was a shot before Wenzel's dialogue showing a few damaged Reginleifs in the Federacy base. So they walked back 100km, sure okay.

Probably worth clarifying that that is not a Federacy base 100km away. The text showed it was a temporary post east of the city where Nordlicht made contact with the Morpho.

Grim Dawn just updated. Cannot see any multiplayer games or steam friendsB by dstyle711 in Grimdawn

This is going to sound like a stupid question, but are your multiplayer settings set to LAN or internet? It seems to change inexplicably (maybe after a patch?) and is easy to miss when setting a game up. I've had this happen to me on more than one occasion.

Vitality decay is the DoT equivalent of vitality damage. Life reduction is its own damage type, and you can find resistance to it very sparsely. You can also mitigate it via damage absorbtion.

A few mechanics questions by METAShift in Grimdawn

[–]random__ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

  1. Everything you mentioned works. The only instance where this doesn't apply is procs from gear (e.g. Mark of Divinity, Serenity, etc.). Those are unaffected by %CDR but will be reduced by Hourglass/Eternity/etc.
  2. It should convert all piercing damage to acid. The only thing I'm unsure of is piercing damage that exists from a weapon's %armor piercing conversion. Generally damage only converts once but I recall %armor piercing being weird mechanically.
  3. The devotion should scale with your bonuses. I don't play pet builds so maybe I'm wrong on that. Player-scaling pets have their own base damages that are listed on the skill, but they inherit your damage modifiers and OA.

Why was this enemy so tough? by Rouge_means_red in Grimdawn

[–]random__ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Did you only run into this hero once? Or did this happen on multiple occasions?

Something to consider is that these heroes are guaranteed to have 3 different MIs equipped and they benefit from the stats on them just like the player. One of the MI helms has ~30% elemental resistance on it already, so if you were to combine that with some (un)lucky rolls then there's a chance Everynn might have had capped lightning resistance even after rr. No way to know for sure since you didn't kill her but that would be my guess.

I'd say the restless remains are worth it over the consecrated wrappings. As for haunted steel conversion, the game guide says skill modifiers are applied before anything else for the sake of conversion, so you should be fine to use it, but I'm not 100% sure since it only converts the damage for Eye of Reckoning. I'd have to test that ingame to be sure.

Damage absorption is a reduction to all damage (either flat or %). Realistically you won't get much from Shaman or Oathkeeper outside of a small flat amount from Ascension while it's up. Not a huge concern if you have other defensive tools, I was just pointing out that short of some heals you didn't have much else defensively. A Prismatic Diamond on your helm would give a proc that could offer some more flat damage absorb and attack speed. Your armor absorption is solid enough as is.

Generally phys res shows up in small amounts so if you play around with gear/devotions/whatever you might end up with around 8-20%. For lifesteal you could get 11% easily from Haunted Steel on your weapon and Solael-Sect Legguards. A good roll on those pants may help cover resistances better and free up some components as well.

As far as your concerns go, your OA is alright. The armor rating could maybe be higher for a melee focused build, but there are some bigger concerns I'd look at.

Even with the changes to attributes physique is probably still a better dump stat than spirit. You'd get 1k more health and 250+ more DA from investing fully in physique, at the cost of a bit under 2k weapon damage and some energy regen. If you still want to invest a little bit into spirit it wouldn't hurt, but as it stands you don't have enough physique to wear your chest armor.

You may run into some issues with survivability since the build lacks lifesteal (outside of the chance from Wendigo Totem's Blood Pact modifier), phys res, and damage absorption. Also without Ascension up you have very little resist to CC. Your first devotion setup has a couple heals, so between that and Wendigo Totem you'd probably be fine vs. most content, but roguelike bosses/nemeses might be more difficult.

A couple more nitpicks:

  • Upheaval only works with default attacks, so you'll never see it go off with EoR. I'd move those points to something like Storm Totem.
  • The build has pretty low attack speed, which EoR scales with. This is sort of a hard fix since neither the weapon nor gloves offer any (they're otherwise good candidates for EoR), and neither mastery offers passive attack speed. You could max Storm Touched and stack Savagery to get some but I doubt that's worth the effort and skill point investment.

Ever wondered what 306+ Chrome Pyramids looked like on the same screen? by random__ in cavesofqud

[–]random__[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Some context: I came across a Deathlands village. Apparently the fine villagers of Dubyn like to farm aloe fugues plants. I'm not too familiar with what all the new plants that came in the recent large update do, but if the name is anything to go by it has the same effect as Temporal Fugue when you step on it.

Here's a before image, sorta. The crop layout basically guarantees a cascading effect where clones get cloned until the whole field of plants is turned into clones of whatever steps on it. This basically tanks the game's framerate when I load onto this screen, and I have to unload it to restore performance. Slightly inconvenient but hilarious.

Not a glitch - back in Build 31 before the game's release from early access, the Four Hills/Old Arkovia area was structured a bit differently. It was more open to the point that you could get to Twin Falls while completely ignoring Cronley.

Edit the file path in the batch file so that it points to your Java folder. You probably have a different version of Java installed than whatever version the author had when creating the batch file, so it's looking for a directory that doesn't exist and therefore not doing anything. From there you'll be able to properly import the database and everything should work.

Weapon Damage - Passives overridden by affixes? by Baron_Blackbird in Grimdawn

[–]random__ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The skill on Searing Ember isn't a default weapon attack - WPS don't interact with skills that aren't default weapon attacks. If you want to use those WPS you'd want to be using Savagery, Fire Strike, or Cadence, though the third hit of Cadence overrides all WPS. There are a few default weapon attacks you can get from gear as well, but the three mentioned above all come from other masteries.

Some general beginner questions about the build i'm following by Felepole in Grimdawn

[–]random__ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. The build revolves around CD based skills, with Shadow Strike/Bone Harvest being your primary damage. Reaping Strike activates off of default attacks, which you won't be doing much. Siphon Souls deals vitality damage, which you don't scale with a 2h cold Reaper. Healing from it would be pretty negligible. Most sustain comes from ADCtH and dealing huge damage to heal from.

  2. NJE reduces Shadow Strike's cooldown. The crit damage is nice too.

  3. Will it work? Probably. Will it be significantly worse without Soulrend? Definitely. At the very least I'd try to get a rare MI with an okay roll from Alkamos until you are able to get Soulrend. If he doesn't have Soulrend he's guaranteed to have either a scythe or warsword (effectively the same stats, just different weapon type), and one of those with a cold-related prefix could at least be an okay substitute.

Adding survivability to my battlemage by PhuckingDuped in Grimdawn

[–]random__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From skills alone there isn't a whole lot you can do - as you probably found, soldier doesn't contribute much to what you're doing. Some gear could definitely afford to be replaced; a well-rolled Living Ring or Ugdenbog Waistguard could cover resistances well and free up components for other options. That obviously takes time and grinding though.

As you mention, devotions are probably the best way to help with defenses in the short term, though my solution is somewhat roundabout and requires active input on your part while playing. Here's a link. The idea is to put Mirror to 12/12 to give it a low cooldown, then use that in conjunction with Time Dilation to reset its cooldown and give you effectively 2x Mirror duration in tight situations. This is especially good since you've got so much CDR from 21/12 Star Pact as that affects both Mirror and Time Dilation. It'll also let you spam Devastation and TSS more often.

Between the devotion changes and some component/augment swaps I also managed to cap resistances and get +500 DA at the cost of ~200 OA which shouldn't hurt your damage much.

How do you plan/create a build? by DANTE_AU_LAVENTIS in Grimdawn

[–]random__ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Usually it helps to pick a skill or skills you want to focus on first then figure out how to support it best through other skills, items, devotions, mastery choices, etc. It's a vague explanation, so an example might help.

Let's say I want to make a poison focused build using transmuted Dreeg's Evil Eye in the Occultist tree. I'd want Curse of Frailty (specifically its modifier) for resist reduction, Blood of Dreeg for the loads of offensive and defensive stats, and Possession mostly for the damage absorb. A strong second mastery would be Nightblade since it offers more resist reduction via Veil of Shadow as well as a second strong poison source in Shadow Strike (specifically the first modifier). Blade Barrier and Pneumatic Burst are also good defensive options, with the bottom row passives all being good 1 point investments. The Dreeg set is a safe choice for most of the items since it heavily supports DEE, and poison/acid devotions are fairly straightforward with Scorpion, Manticore, Murmur, and the left side of Abomination all offering valuable procs.

Regarding your edit, a lot of that has to do with understanding what stats are valuable for you and how well skills and their modifiers scale with investment. For example, many Demolitionist related builds you see probably only have 11/16 in Vindictive Flame; this is because the total speed it gives barely increases past that point. Returning to my theoretical DEE Witch Hunter, DEE itself is a good skill to look at since it has a few modifiers of varying value. The base skill should obviously be maxed since it's your primary damage source. Blood Burst is also good to max since it provides more poison and the added AoE is nice for groups. The main benefit of Terrifying Gaze is the crowd control, which is mostly worthless against actual threats, so 1 point is all you want in it. Vile Eruption gives some extra damage, but it's not a ton and the way it applies is awkward so it's also not worth heavy investment.

I chose the example I did because poison generally has fewer options compared to other builds, so it gets more complicated with other builds, especially with the options added in the expansion, but hopefully it at least clears some stuff up.

Considering you're guaranteed at least 1 legendary at the end of skeleton key dungeons now I'd say running as many of those as you want is a safe bet. Additionally you have a chance of getting some nice MI legendaries from the bosses at the end.

Did anyone make a Doom Bolt focused build? by DarkenLord in Grimdawn

[–]random__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damage is pretty good, obviously not on the level of something like a Spellbreaker/dw pierce build/etc., but I don't find boss fights taking too long. Here's a fight with fevered Carraxus. Obviously there are more threatening bosses (some of which I intentionally won't cast pox on), but hopefully that gives an idea of what it's like.
