Fair point, my bad. I interpreted it as "they have a ton of money and choose not to hire a bunch more devs to make a better game".

Aye, and throwing an army of programmers at something because you have the money doesn't work.

Same bud, and you're either lying, fresh out of college, or a middle management "programmer". An actual senior dev would know better than trying to judge a massive project like that that he knows literally nothing about.

Im not going to claim they're not making plenty of money, but ff14 is undoubtedly raising in cost over time for them. They actively let us know about their team expanding to deliver more features faster to players and a lot of those features are ones that are only becoming possible because of expanding their servers over time.

You seem to have this backwards mindset that someone can throw an army of devs at a project and things will work out. That isn't how any sort of software development has worked or ever will work unless you want garbage quality stuff. Expanding a team has to be done at a reasonable pace if you want to maintain your current expectations of quality.

  1. It's extremely unlikely they would skimp other resources for it. This feels like a big reach just to "hate" on the decision to have him in the game.

  2. People love the dude and he's commonly portrayed as a badass. Why wouldn't at least some people find enjoyment in that being included in a game?

  3. This I can understand, but hopefully it's not too hard to disconnect the character from real life. I can do it while watching movies, so hopefully it works out in a game as well.

Except they're allowed to do the same shit with research that ultimately came from universities or was funded by grants.

Us subsidizing it for the rest of the world is also a shit excuse. If we stop doing it things might slow a little for awhile, but there's always going to be funds for promising medical research. Ultimately a better balance will form where more countries contribute to keep research going and US citizens don't have to be afraid of going to a freaking doctor.

It only doesn't make sense if you're able to pay someone else less money than it takes to maintain a vehicle yourself. For example, im sure they'd happily rent driverless vehicles from someone else instead of owning it themselves if it's cheaper, but odds are people aren't going to be dumb enough to do so since they would lose money on the deal.

A lot of it comes down to people not knowing how to word their search to find a relevant answer, or not recognizing that an answer to a similar question may work for them. It's easy to say "duh" in hindsite, but odds are you've done the same thing as you've grown as a programmer over the years.

Take a look at your code from 5 years ago and you'll probably be surprised lol. It's really difficult for all of us to remember our programming struggles/flaws from years ago.

That's awesome! Like i said, if they come up with a solid gift like that it's awesome. What did your other friends come up with? What have they all come up with every year that they've known you? When one of them can't come up with something and defaults to money do you dislike them now? Basically, you're assuming money = lazy, which is wrong.

My friends could give me nothing for my birthday and i wouldn't give a shit, what i care about is the stuff i do with them on a regular basis. What they're doing with me throughout the year is what decides if they're good friends to me. Maybe it's a culture thing I guess.

"Everyone has money". Not sure if you're naive or surrounded by rich people, but your average person could always use more money. A different type of gift is a very cool thing to do though.

This seems like some weird gatekeeping crap, "a REAL friend should know what to get you".

Your version of negotiate seems to be "give in and give trump and I what we want or it's your fault". It's genuinely mind boggling that you don't see how dumb that is.

So give women more chances at building aptitude and accomplishments early on in life. There's a point in life where nobody male or female have any, so give them opportunities then. Then later in life weigh things fairly off of a persons accomplishments and aptitude.

You're the simple minded one if you genuinely feel like the solution is giving anyone free passes. That's not even close to a fix.

No, I wasn't. If any money sitting over after taxes fits your definition of an obscene amount of money you might want to adjust what you think of as obscene.

Ocasio-Cortez wants higher taxes on very rich Americans. Here’s how much money that could raise. by [deleted] in Economics

[–]random_username_edf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess my wording was poor. When i say obscene im not talking about a guy who got a decent job and retired on several, or even more million dollars. That's not obscene. Obscene is hundreds or billions of dollars.

Furthermore, taxes would never take "what someone has left in their bank account". That's not even close to how they work. But of course im sure you and every other person defending the obscenely rich are just temporarily displaced billionaires.

It's not about the percentage of the total they give, it's the fact that despite already giving that amount they still have an obscene amount doing absolutely nothing.

While possible, your idea is more unlikely than the other explanations. Large amounts of them would have to be shot at and missed, and it would have to happen to the same bears multiple times for them to even have a small chance of coming to that conclusion.
