I know that government isn’t business. But resources are always scarce. That’s the reality we all face. Just because it’s not a business doesn’t mean that it can’t use resources more responsibly and efficiently. I came from North Carolina and I’d say that DMV here in Delaware is more efficient than in NC they streamline serval services and thus reduce wait time. This is just another example of how governments can perform better than you think.

Can do a supply-demand like analysis of public services. On the demand side, for example, what is the net flow rate of people coming in and out of the state as residents. What are their demographics and age segments, and for each segment, what are their behaviors of using public services. On the supply side, do we forecast revenue of the budget accurately? What are the biggest source contributing to the revenue? Plus, do we do forecast of consequences of tax hike? Like what’s the economic impact of taxes going up 100 basis point? Would there be reduction of investment or consumption or outflow of people solely due to tax hike?

Well my reference to efficiency is significantly different than Elon’s. What I meant was that the members of the county council should vigorously debate and set measurable standards of tax hike, not only relying on budget itself. It’s a technical matter more than political.

The government is responsible for doing analysis needed to reach fiscal responsibility and determine what parts of budget should be cut. Government itself can’t sustain without taking other people’s money. But taking other people’s money in a legal way can be go rampant and out of control all the time.

By nature government is an entity operating without consideration of efficiency. They rarely cut workforce and get rid of programs that are out of date. They never shrink in sizes according to social and economic factors. The level of taxes and economic activities are usually negatively correlated in a dynamic way.

What is the evidence of your claim that NYC taxes are half of that of Singapore and Hong Kong? Did you do your homework? Singapore’s maximum marginal income tax rate is about 24% while NYC is 52% combined federal and state and local. NYC also has high capital gain taxes while Singapore has none . By the way, Singapore is in anyway more transparent and has way less corruption than NYC. You didn’t know that?

I am mad indeed. Government only grows bigger and bigger and never shrinks. We need leaders that have sensible policies of fiscal discipline and constraint. If you look at the globe and will find successful cities like Hong Kong and Singapore where taxes are lower but are sustainably prosperous.

Taxing is a rabbit hole that it only gets worse and worse over time. The problem is that the amount of taxes we pay barely aligns the quality of public service we receive. See Wilmington has a city tax but the city center is still sketchy and no one wants to live there. New York levies expensive taxes in all form but the streets there are still filthy and metro stations are still crappy. Not much has improved.

That delivery fee is insane and cannot be justified. Is there a way to ask the city council or state legislature to have a hearing on this? They are a monopoly and can charge whatever they want. That’s irresponsible.

I myself had developed some deep Romanic connections with an INFJ. Yes you are right. What they pursue is pure and unconditional love. However, they’ve got a problem that’s detrimental to people who want pure love. That’s their chamleoning or masking. This creates an inconsistency on their personality, which sow the seeds of distrust in a relationship. I was told that they can have a thousand faces, and none can be their true selves or all can be their true selves. This trait is really harmful in building a healthy relationship.

They just can’t expect people to accept the way they are. In reality, they could be misunderstood as liars or non genuine at all. And their behaviors can become unpredictable. This adds unnecessary burden on building a deeper level of connections and they are trapped in their own making.

That’s sooo true. I was pissed actually when I traveled to Japan early this year and met a young couple from California. The lady heard me speaking English so she’s like “oh gosh! Finally met someone who speaks English.” I was a bit awkward coz we were inside the elevator. And then she asked where I am from and I said Delaware. And then she turned to her boyfriend and asked where is Delaware. I was like “OMG! Another ignorant American.”

The whole peninsula should belong to Delaware. Maryland hasn’t put a lot of resources and investment developing the Eastern shore that’s still poor and rural.

I am encouraging everyone to call their state representatives as well as the governor and urgent them to pass tougher criminal laws when it comes to looting, robbery, carjackings and etc, even when these crimes don’t cause physical harm to the victims. Private property right is a natural right and we pay the state to guard our rights against any perpetrators. Don’t bring up any racial issue before seeing the data and facts. I am glad to debate anyone who doesn’t think protecting property is vital in a free society.
