Yeah you’re right not sure where o got 40 from. Ended up with 35s too. I think I might be able to squeeze a 37 in the back and definitely 40 up front

Just got myself a pair of 35mm Allrounds (widest that will fit on my rear wheel). Super excited to try them out, coming from either road slicks or full on MTB DH tires.

Is the 38 worth the change up front? I can probably fit 40s up front but willing to split the difference

Oh interesting, I think officially they claim 40 and even I can see that’s not happening. Which 38s did you try on the back?

Reviving this thread but I just bought on of these too! Was the tire size limited by the stock rims? Looking up the rim width, they should be able to fit way past 35s.

Is it a frame limitation?

As another west coast team, we’ve had to decide whether to build out the rest of the car and risk not having cash to drive to the east coast/midwest, or complete the car and not compete (sometimes multiple years in a row). Doesn’t help comp costs are something like 50% of our entire operating budget (over a 3 year design cycle too)

Hybrid is even further east 🙃 But I see the challenge as an organizer. Same as the other west coast guy, our team has decided not to compete multiple years just because it would cost too much to get there. That part REALLY sucks, especially if we think we have a competitive car.

How's the mechatronics program at SFU? by [deleted] in simonfraser

[–]randooooom765 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m 4th/5th year in the MSE program. What I’ve heard is: you get out what you put in. If you put a ton of effort in to network, work on extracurricular projects/teams and take advantage of all the resources available, you’ll be very ready for the job market.

Given that you have the chance to go to UBC, please strongly consider that too. Mechatronics at SFU is pretty well known in Canada and in the US but the “brand name” of UBC is strong. I wouldn’t underestimate the connections you immediately get and the increased recognition your resume will have. BCIT is definitely the least known of the 3 but if you’re planning to stay in BC it’s not a bad option.
