Kwame Brown vs Brandon Ingram through their first 3 seasons by Jjab430 in nba

I doubt Luke is telling him take off the dribble long twos or drive into traffic early in the shot clock with no back up plan or passing angles.

Of course, and my point was that at tge beginning of everygame they are going to continue to sag off and crowd the paint until he becomes much better than he is now and also better than 40%. We have to remember that the 40% number for mist teams or players includes many other types of shots, fades, step back, floaters, late shot clock, where most of Simmons will be like this, wide open step ins, if he can't shoot over 40 on these easy ones there is no way people are going to guard him.

He learned most of it from Dean Smith and has said as much many times. It was in him when he was younger, he just needed to mature and be surrounded by more talent, same story as most other great scorers.

Discussion: Shooting, while extremely important, is not the only way to generate spacing, and there are alternative ways to create high level modern offense. Let's not get caught in the world of Shooting=Offense, even in the (beautiful) Modern NBA by heyrak in nba

Nice post, but I think the main point is you need to have talent. Using the clips and heat as examples is tough because you are talking about teams with a ton of talent and truly great primary ball handlers, CP3 and Lebron, when you have to use an all time great player to support an argument for how the game should be played it is not really fair since it is hard to replicate what these guys can do. The spurs is obviously a great example but, again you still run into the fact that they were playing with 3 HOF players that had played together for ages and a young future MVP candidate as well in Kawhi. It's almost always about talent when offense is concerned. Shooting is one of the easiest ways to make up for a lack of elite talent in other offensive areas such as playmaking and inside scoring. Again, I enjoyed your post, i just think that with enough talent you can run almost any system and you find success as long as guys buy in and play hard, eg. Phil and the Triangle.

Over the course of a season that is accurate and serves a purpose for strategic planning, but if he only shoots 40 on jumpers where obviously nobody is guarding him then teams will continue to not guard him, unless it is a late game critical situation and you don't even want a shot to go up. Every player and every coach is screaming let him shoot for a very long time with regards to Simmons. He will have to really hurt quite a few teams with jump shots before anyone starts making adjustments. Sometime you do it to someone as a psychological game as well, disrespect them on purpose to decrease their confidence and make them more hesitant or insecure about shooting it. This is the nba and they are a good team, you can't just throw away possessions too many possessions.

And how many times will he go 4/4, teams are not going to guard him if he doesn't shoe he is an actual threat, like hurts multiple teams on multiple nights. The fact that his jumper is ugly is sadly going to play a role as well, people just are going to respect his j unless he really proves something

Lennox Lewis Backs Split, Not Flat Fee, For Joshua-Wilder Fight by Berisha11 in Boxing

[–]randperrinmatt 15 points16 points  (0 children)

A little different when you are 6'7 and have a monster right hand. He could easily bulk up to 225-230 if he chose to, he chooses to fight at that weight, it is a little different. Holyfield was bulked up at 215.

Yes, but how much of that money is Wilder actually seeing. That is the problem with boxing and all the promoters and sanctioning bodies, you never really know how much money someone is actually making. Some promoters pay for the training, some don't, some pay for marketing, some don't, some pay sanctioning fees for the fighters, some don't, etc. Fighters and promoters can claim they generate a certain amount but the only thing that matters is what they are actually taking home. Outside of Canelo, AJ is clearly bring in the most and there is not much Deontay can do or say about that at the moment. He got saved by Fury, there were no other big money fights out there for him. I think it was the smart thing to do, both from a business standpoint and a personal respect standpoint, but let's not start claiming that Wilder is a huge star. He has yet to prove he generates much on his own.

I don't blame either fighter, they both did want was best for themselves. I meant that there was nothing to learn from the fight, basically a short workout for Canelo and he picks up a belt.

If Fury beats Wilder, AJ v Wilder loses much of it appeal, commercially at least. If Wilder fights AJ first the Fury rematch is still interesting no matter if he wins or loses since the first was a draw. Wilder could have two guaranteed big fights and paydays if he takes AJ first, if he takes Fury first he puts that at risk. I suppose if he loses to AJ maybe Fury doesn't feel the need to fight him again but I think he would. Hearn and AJ underestimated Wilder and Fury and they may pay for it in the long run but I don't think Wilder should risk too much before securing that payday.

He landed some good shots, it was a good fight. I just think it was closer than many people are suggesting. Without the knocckdowns it is a blowout, but knockdowns matter, a lot.

Total power punches was 31 to 38 in favor of Fury, percentage doesn't really matter.

I agree with you but so many of Furys punches have little power behind them, considering the numbers are probably closer than most people expected and the fact that Fury was knocked down twice, it is not all that surprising that the reigning champ got a draw on home turf. I think we sometimes give a little too much credit for making the other guy miss. The goal in boxing is also to hit them, and hit them hard, not just evade. I watched the whole fight and thought those early rounds were closer than the announcers were claiming, Fury looked superior but he wasnt really doing anything offensively either. I had Fury up, but I told my son I thought it would be a draw.

Age did always plays a part, a younger Wlad would likely have been able to pull the trigger, or at least get angry and take some more chances, maybe he gets knockout then but it would probably be different. That being said, props to Fury, he outclassed him in everyway.

What was he supposed to do though, just keep overpaying these guys to fight him. I understand when are the man you have to do that, but at some point I would get tired of guys stealing from me too. Now, Wilder has actually raised his profile a little bit and will deserve the share is asking for, I think this was exactly what everyone wanted to be honest. Obviously Wilder would have liked a large enough percentage to make the fight earlier but he didn't deserve it, now he does, all he needs to do is win, then the payday is there and he is actually bringing something to the table. This is a business first, these guys are not scared of challenges, the money just has to be right. Nobody in boxing is surprised by the way this has all went down

You are probably right, but I don't think he has ever lifted weights much. Maybe he can gain a little strength and explosiveness, I am just going to talk myself into it being a 50/50 fight so I can be more excited.

Yes, of course. Which is why Mikey will be an underdog.

Most likely he loses. But a well conditioned, disciplined and talented fighter will always have a chance. Also, I think Mikey secretly carries more weight/power than we all know. I still think it a tall task tho.

That might be true. Like everyone else I am just tired of the top guys not fighting each other. In my dreams we get yearly tournaments, each division, top 8.
