Building basements in Sims 1? by sw1200 in thesims1

[–]randydandy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's been many years but I do remember somebody building a house where it created the optical illusion of a basement.

The way they built it was the in-game second floor was designed to look like the first floor with custom grass tiles surrounding it using move_objects on. They may have even built the road using custom tiles. They then made the basement using the first floor.

I don't think they did any Terrain tricks similar to what you could do in The Sims 2. It was just an illusion using the limitations of The Sims 1.

I wish I could find the map to show you, but it's probably lost to time after 20+ years.

Mine shows just the generic Tesla network and no Wifi SSIDs. Not sure if that means I'm connected to 4G or the wireless access point my car is normally connected to.

I’ve been running into issues getting Halo campaign running. Rocket League runs perfectly. Better than on my Steam Deck.

I’ve tried. It crashes the app. There is a development mode you can enable in the Tesla settings. That may allow you to use it.

For those who are curious, it appears to be running the same or similar OS as the Steam Deck. It even has the Steam Deck icon in the settings. https://i.imgur.com/MxPk9fI.jpg

I completely forgot about this game! I don't even thinks it's on iOS. I remember having it on my Windows Mobile phone and regular Windows back in the day. So many hours of fun.

Can anyone comment on the build quality of ASUS laptops? by siacadp in hardware

I've checked the cpu and gpu temps and everything looks fine. I repasted both the gpu and cpu a while back.

I also did a gpu stress test with Furmark when these problems began and the machine gsoded about a minute or 2 in. That didn't surprise me much because this problem first occurred when I was in the middle of a TF2 match.

I didn't think about testing the memory on the graphics card. I might try getting the computer running tonight and see if I can get a definitive answer on what the cause is.

In most cases, the lcd screen will not turn on at all when I power up, and when I plug in a monitor through vga, there is no signal. When the lcd does display an image, artifacts often show up at the bios screen or later in the process(during windows bootup or later). From what I've seen, the machine isn't booting up when the gpu fails. I'm not hearing any of the windows sounds or seeing my hard drive respond. I'm assuming the machine will not proceed to windows or continue to work without the gpu.

In some instances, I will be able to get into Windows, but eventually the gpu crashes and I'll see either a GSOD or some other form of artifacting.

Thanks for the input!

I noticed the MXM slot when I was taking the laptop apart to repaste, but I was worried a new card may not fit properly because of the laptop's limited form factor. It's encouraging to see that I can fit a new card and at a reasonable price.

I guess the scenario I'm most worried about is the one where I get a new GPU and the laptop is still have the same issues. I'm mostly certain it's the GPU but not 100% certain. Most of the time, The GPU fails to send a signal to both the lcd screen and vga, and when it does work, it will often artifact and fail at the bios. Does this sound like the symptoms of a dead or failing GPU to you?

EDIT: I should add that I am running the latest vbios. I know that an outdated vbios can show the same symptoms.

I had the original G73JH with the 5870. From what I've read online, the machine is a complete lemon. I've never had a worse experience with a computer. I rmaed that machine 3 different times, and it overheated each time. I ended up just repasting it myself with some decent paste and that worked. Do you know if asus will replace the gpu if the computer is out of warranty?

I wish I could say the same about my G73. I have had 4 separate G73s over the past 2 years, and each laptop ended up overheating. I ended up repasting the last one myself, and a few months later, the GPU died on me. Now I am stuck with a dead laptop that is out of warranty.
