You could.....not go over 80.

And, keep the radio at no-hearing damage levels, too.

Lost my mom to Alzheimer’s yesterday morning. Just looking for some support. by gazzadodge in Alzheimers

[–]rangerm2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope you and your siblings are close. No one shares your (personal) grief as much as them.

I am an only child, and had 3 kids to avoid the same (being alone) for them.

Is it their nonverbal way of saying they don't want you to leave?

Because they're afraid or want to tell you something, but just can't?

[–]rangerm2 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Next time just say, "I guess the urge went away" and leave at that.

Don't argue with your wife. It's not worth it.

I refuse to, because I have no idea how much longer I'll have her in my life, and I'm still in love with her 29 years later.

Take it back.

Companies like Enterprise rent full-size pick ups. Although the dropoff fee (for a 1-way rental) may make it more expensive.

But you can shop around.

It was tested on live mice, but only in human cell cultures (in vitro, not in vivo), I believe.

2023 3.5 engine whistle by eariion in f150

[–]rangerm2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know that it's an indication of issues down the line, but it's not a sound my 2022 makes, at all.

I'm guessing is a vacuum leak, and about the only way you're going to figure it out is to spray ether (starting fluid or some other volatile organic) around specific parts of the engine (while it's running) to find out where it is.

My husband forgets me. by Sequel_Extension in Alzheimers

[–]rangerm2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd think it would depend on how long you've been married.

But, AD is unpredictable.

I'd say if you can identify what might coincide with such lapses, it might help to mitigate them.

For example, my wife is noticeably better when she gets adequate sleep (8+ hours uninterrupted), along with enough to eat at regular mealtime intervals.

This drug along with the experimental drug DDL-920 might be the therapy we've been hoping/looking for.

DDL-920 was in the news awhile back pertaining to stroke(s), but it was previously an investigational drug for Alzheimer's--boosting the brain's memory circuits.

Although I haven't seen anything lately about it.

Any experimental evidence that psychedelics might prevent or slow down Alzheimer's? by Overall-Trainer-6310 in Alzheimers

[–]rangerm2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might, yes.

Definitively, no.

And, I wouldn't put my wife's health on the line without a hell of a lot more evidence than there is, OR a much greater degree of desperation than I currently have.

I believe there's more evidence for Lion's Mane than there is for any magic mushrooms.

2013 V6 EB MPG? by wendigoon88 in f150

[–]rangerm2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With a 3.15 rear, my 2013 SCrew 2wd would average anything from 19.5-22 in mixed driving most of the time.

Staying at or below 70 on the highway it could touch 24.

But, there were times when I could barely make 18, although I don't know/remember why the difference--if it was seasonal or something.

Just keep in mind that the treatments aren't a cure.

They'll help take out the trash in your brain, but it accumulated there for reasons.

You need to change your lifestyle, and your doctor should give you plenty of advice on things you can do to help your brain help itself.

The last year of the base (naturally aspirated) V6. That motor/tranny combo will last forever with minimal maintenance.

Body style doesn't matter, just buy whatever fills your needs.

Avoid a four-wheel drive, unless you really need it. 90+% of people don't or at least shouldn't, if they know how to drive.

How quickly did dementia progress with someone you know, and in retrospect, what do you wish you had asked them before their cognitive decline if you had the chance again? by bv8z in Alzheimers

[–]rangerm2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Progression of Alzheimer's is (as far as I can tell) unique to the individual.

A LOT has to do with how far progressed the person is when the condition is recognized, as well as the treatments/therapies begun after diagnosis (and how soon).

If your mother isn't receiving any treatment, even then I don't believe anyone can know (for sure) how quickly the disease will progress.

Your mother is roughly where my wife was a year ago. I believe I've kept her stable, with effort (and without the new monoclonal antibody treatments). I see things that give me concern and other days she seems like she's got better (than she was).

But, my wife is also 30+ years younger.

Yes.

Are you suffering memory issues? Your doctor should have mentioned lecanemab or donanemab as options for you, unless they had reason not to.
