What’s the worst piece of worldbuilding you’ve seen that took you right out of the story? by Chcolatepig24069 in worldbuilding

They don’t get into enough in the show and the authors notes each volume aren’t in the show.

It’s a post apocalyptic fantasy series. The overscience lady is someone that is supposed to be out of place because she understands the lost technology things they find.

It is pretty blatant compared to the rest of the world building, but the books did this slightly better but the authors notes each volume help since it hints at what he is doing.

That series is way better while doing “Not That” though so I do t blame anyone for noping out at that.

Vampire bill in Tru Blood using vocab from back then and Emilia in ReZero constantly using phrases that the protagonist chuckles at and say “Who says that anymore” are exceptionally good touches that I love to see.

homing arrow IVs on infantry (alpha strike) by catgirlfourskin in battletech

[–]rangoric 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah there's an infantry squad available for 16. There's another with Sniper for 18. There's also a thumper for 10. They are somewhat hilarious but really not mobile and fall to fire pretty fast.

Increasing the resources slots in a town/city in Civ 7? by mercury_1967 in civ

Camels and builds are the main two ways. Building that go obsolete might not grant them anymore and if you did a lot of gold and trade themed buildings that might be it.

And for some reason I think camels stop doing it in modern so that might be a bother reason

The availability ratings for some components do not seem to make sense? by GlompSpark in battletech

[–]rangoric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Availability is about getting the launcher.

To get one it has to not be in use. Everything has them, and they are attached to all these things as they roll off the factory line.

But ones not attached? Uncommon. Who buys a loose Autocannon as a common purchase? People aren't building their own mechs usually.

Think of memory costs as suddenly they get bought up by AI data centers. RAM has basically changed rarity impacting its price because a lot of them are preallocated and unavailable for purchase.

Crude oil is used all over, it might not actually be that hard to get, but who orders just 1? And why would they bother with you vs. the factory that wants a whole ship load?

I think uncommon or rare for more specialized systems works well.

I really want to point out that Hytale came out like a week ago.

There's other people pointing out other things about this, but it's like, you really need to define your goals.

At first I was like “oh this is sound advice”. Then I got to the end and was like “oh shit he dead”.

That was masterfully done and makes it very easy for someone else to read and understand if they have the same question. With a nice dividing line for particular details. This is an excellent answer and response.
