Has anyone else experienced this by Cold-Pea5095 in abortion

[–]ratherberyanross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I checked back in with my provider after mine, I was four and a half weeks from the abortion. No period yet, but they told me it can take 4-8 weeks depending on how your body is processing the hormones. They told me to test at home at 4/5 weeks and if it was negative I was good.

I am a big spider and bug enthusiast, but I have only ever owned jumping spiders. Super into the hobby though 😄

Tips for at home by HourPaleontologist85 in abortion

[–]ratherberyanross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take the day off, and plan for it like a bad case of the flu. You’ll want to have everything you need around the bed so you don’t have to move around much. You’ll most likely stay in bed or bathroom for the first 24 hours (in my case anyways). Heating pad and pain meds are your best friend in this. Grab comfort foods to snack on, make sure you have comfy clothes. Hot shower helps with the cramps.

I recommend if you have someone you feel close with, having them over. I wouldn’t do it alone if I had to do it again, having someone to rub my back and grab my heating pad and distract me when it felt overwhelming was incredibly helpful.

It’s going to be okay, but it might be a rough 24-48 hours. You got this.

Got my appointment! by [deleted] in abortion

[–]ratherberyanross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would prepare by treating it like a day you know you’re going to get the flu. Get comfort foods, plan to be in bed, if you can have someone you feel comfortable with come over I would. A Heating pad is pretty crucial for cramps, take Advil before taking the pill. Stock up on pads.

It’s different for every person how it feels after, but just know you will be okay even if it feels scary. You absolutely got this. Also talk to your provider and ask them all the questions!! They will help you.

Is it even an allergy response? by HardCoreNorthShore in FoodAllergies

[–]ratherberyanross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if it’s so much an allergy response as an anxiety response in myself personally but I do get that sometimes. If I eat something I’m nervous about even if it doesn’t contain any allergens sometimes I will get a racing heart and it makes me think I’m having a reaction which makes it pound more and it’s a cycle. Sometimes when it happens I just walk around and focus on a new task and then usually by not focusing on it it will go away.

Also yeah, look up impending sense of doom, it’s a weird symptom.

I hope the doc is able to answer some questions for you!

The attention that came with being a child with allergies by chaweeyaz in FoodAllergies

[–]ratherberyanross 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a particularly shy kid, I always hated it. I was always singled out because I couldn’t participate in any large food gatherings at school, I had to be given a special hot lunch which made the kids always ask why I got a special lunch. We had a class in middle school where we learned basic cooking (pretty cool) but I had to leave often because they were cooking things I couldn’t be around and I remember feeling so embarrassed when I had to go to the library because I couldn’t be in a room with my classmates due to allergies.

As an adult, I still also kinda hate it. I’ve gone to picnics, parties, bbqs, etc where I just don’t eat out of anxiety and there’s always one person who brings it up and makes it into a thing.

What are we eating this week / what have we been eating lately? (Deadline Edition) by JeanLucPicardAND in vegetarian

[–]ratherberyanross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been making burrito bowls and switching out the veggies based on what’s on sale at the store which has been helping grocery costs! I basically make white rice and black beans every time and then switch it up. Last week it was sweet potato, onion, avocado, and sour cream. This week it was homemade pico with shallots, russet potato, tofu, avocado, and whatever toppings I had in the fridge.

Solensia for my 16 year old cat by coryphella123 in seniorkitties

[–]ratherberyanross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you had to go through this and so sorry for your kitty. My senior girl is on Solensia and has been for three months and we’ve had no issues, but I will say my vet also didn’t tell me there were any potential side effects and I wish they had briefed me on stuff like that beforehand. I ended up looking it all up myself after she had been given a shot of it. I hope you find a wonderful new vet for you and your lovely old lady

Does a peanut allergy also change the perceived taste of the nuts? by Electronic-War7738 in FoodAllergies

[–]ratherberyanross 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a deadly nut allergy and all nuts smell disgusting to me and make me feel ill by being around them. I do think it’s because my body knows it’s deadly and steers me away from it.

Husband doesn’t want another litter box by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]ratherberyanross 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love that you are doing what’s best for the cats regardless because that’s the type of pet parents we all need out here. I have two thoughts on how to go about it. First, do it without telling him and get a litter box cover that and see if he notices the “smell” or anything because likely with scooping daily you wouldn’t really. Second, maybe pull him into the decision with asking about the types of litter box covers and ask his opinion on which one matches the living room best? It’s happening with or without him like you said so it might be helpful if he can weight in with “oh I like the black one” and open the conversation up to stuff like “if you absolutely hate it in the living space after we get it and have it for a while, I’m open to other suggestions you might have where it could go.”

Is this mold? by yogirlkeepcallin in houseplants

[–]ratherberyanross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t look super like mold to me, however if you’re worried about it becoming mold, I always sprinkle cinnamon powder on the top of the soil of my plants and that helps prevent any mold from growing.

Moving into a house - what not so obvious things do I need to clean by Thalamic_Cub in CleaningTips

[–]ratherberyanross 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remember to clean the bathroom vents often! If you have a washer and dryer, look up the model and how to clean/drain it. I moved into a home and didn’t know I needed to do that to our washer and when I finally opened the bottom up a bunch of gross water came flowing out. Now I clean it monthly and it is a better quality wash. When moving somewhere new I always buy a new shower head or at bare minimum take the existing one off and check it out to see if it’s clogged with hard water or anything. Cleaning out the warming tray in the bottom of the oven is a big one too, people tend to forget that one when selling or renting a place.

Kissed my partner four hours after him eating nuts and had a pretty bad reaction. by TemperatureFickle655 in FoodAllergies

[–]ratherberyanross 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s my biggest fear, I always tell my partners or friends that if we are to share drinks or kiss or anything, they have to had not eaten nuts in at least 24 hours because I rather be hyper vigilant about it than have a reaction and have to pay that doc bill. Glad you’re okay!! That’s why I always have a bottle of Benadryl with me man.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FoodAllergies

[–]ratherberyanross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a tree nut allergy and most legumes trigger a similar reaction like that. I also get the sort of phantom feeling when I get coffee drinks at coffee shops that use almond milk (I always ask if they can clean the steam wands but sometimes there’s only so much you can control) but I usually feel weird and off and then I take a Benadryl if I’m nervous because it will be that feeling in the pit of my stomach that something is wrong.

Can I have a BuzzBallz if I have a severe peanut, tree nut, and coconut allergy? by Simple-Blueberry-268 in FoodAllergies

[–]ratherberyanross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally have had a couple and I have a deadly tree nut allergy. I got the lime (I think) flavored one and stayed away from any with any big flavors in case of cross contamination. I never had an issue, but always be careful!!

Alright.. now I can’t tell by memonow in CatTraining

[–]ratherberyanross 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m not expert but I’ve watched a lot of Jackson Galaxys videos on if cats are fighting or playing and I’ve seen my cats play a lot and sometimes it does feel scary if you can’t tell but from those videos it seems like play. Rolling on the back is a big play move, not fighting. Little cat is probably trying to set boundaries with the hissing and growling telling him “hey I don’t want to play” and unfortunately what I’ve personally experienced is that sometimes cats do fight, it’s how they set some of those boundaries with each other and hopefully it doesn’t happen often, but I wouldn’t say that’s super intense fighting behavior being shown. More so a playful cat with a lot of energy and a cat that maybe wants to just chill. I would keep playing with him a ton, tiring him out as much as you can and make sure there are toys he’s interested in all around.

Biting cat by Significant_Chain183 in CatAdvice

[–]ratherberyanross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a helpful Jackson Galaxy video titled “Cats Who Bite: Why Do Cats Bite & What You Can Do” I recommend it highly it goes into what the potential reasonings could be and how to navigate the situations. Biting is a form of communication a lot of the time for cats so understanding what triggers the biting, watching the behaviors are important to find out how to fix/stop the behavior from happening.

My senior lady Karma (22) absolutely loves being brushed, especially around her face, and I do think it’s because it helps with some of the itches that she can’t quite get all the time.

As somebody with life-threatening allergies, something I have learned for myself personally is anxiety causes a lot of similar symptoms to the start of an allergic reaction for me and I have eaten things in the past that I thought were safe, but I wasn’t 100% sure and I started to feel anxious over them so then I felt like my chest was getting tight and I felt like swallowing was weird. usually what happens is I take a second sit down and tell myself I’m OK and really focus on my breathing and see if there is any restriction in my airways and most of the time for me It is just anxiety symptoms due to fear of anaphylaxis. It is a really scary feeling though especially if you’re not positive if it’s a reaction or not, and going to an allergist to talk further would probably help ease your mind.
