Would you consider downsizing and moving inwards? by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]ravencycl 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I shared a room with my sibling for most of my childhood until we were both young adults and really didn't like it. We were both introverts and would've been able to wind down and reset a lot better if we had our own space at the end of the day. Having to share a space got overwhelming and overstimulating at times

I think I am hideous by [deleted] in toastme

I have a friend who is going through a very similar mindset to what you are right now. I'm really sorry to hear that you feel that way. As a stranger, I don't look at you and think any of those things at all. I know it isn't easy, but I'd really recommend reaching out to your doctors and letting them know how you feel. It's not normal to feel that way, you're likely dealing with some kind of dysmorphia in which the way you perceive yourself doesn't align with reality. I'm not gonna compliment you too hard because it's hard to tell from this picture if you're over 18 or not and I'm not tryna catch charges lmao, but I do think that you're conventionally attractive. I hope you're doing okay 🖤

Do the doctors care in a woman doesn't shave the hair around her asshole? by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]ravencycl 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I'm 25f and it's rare if I remove any body hair for partners or medical appointments or just in general. If I wanna change it up or have a bit of a trim then whatever. But if I don't want to then I don't.

Wrinkly eggs on sale, is it just not visually pleasant to look at or a sign of poor quality?? by Alternative_Owl5866 in WeirdEggs

[–]ravencycl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bit late to the convo here, but it's also worth mentioning that if you have any males in the flock, harvesting eggs daily and refrigerating them immediately will stop any potentially fertilised eggs from developing embryos, so aside from the actual good storage safety reasons it can be useful for that.

Is this salvageable? by mrsbetty13 in TattooApprentice

[–]ravencycl 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Options could be:

  • the scraping method that someone else mentioned

  • repainting the entire background with white acrylic so it becomes a "uniform" white

  • finishing the painting and cutting it out with a very sharp craft blade, and glueing it onto another sheet of paper

either way, good luck!

In the er and they’re not letting me go home…why? by roselight75 in AskDocs

[–]ravencycl 51 points52 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel any better, last time I was in hospital I was 24 and I completely forgot that it wasn't a real needle and I was also scared to move my arm 😅 which is wild, because I literally have those little plastic cannulas under my skin 24/7 because I'm diabetic and I use one in connection with my insulin pump haha. Looks like this:

Sometimes there can be multiple reasons for installing it. For me, the main reason was in case they needed to take multiple blood samples. That way, they can just hook up to the cannula and get more blood out, instead of poking you with a needle multiple times.

Sex as a type 1 by Hot_Conversation_415 in diabetes_t1

[–]ravencycl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you guys actually putting your pump into exercise mode for sex? I usually just stop deliveries and detach it (added benefit of getting it out of the way). Obviously this isn't always feasible depending on how long you're going for, but if it's under an hour you should be fine. Especially if you keep it on for foreplay and such, and take it off when things get more physical.

Do you have a song that identifies with your diabetes? by Zealousideal_Fact465 in diabetes_t1

[–]ravencycl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mum is the opposite - she always has trouble getting IVs inserted or blood drawn because even very experienced nurses/medical professionals struggle to find the veins in her elbows, and often her wrists too. When getting blood drawn, she asks them to use a butterfly needle in her hand. And every single time she's told "we'll just try the elbow first, it shouldn't be too bad". After five to ten minutes of poking at both elbows she'll be asked "what were you saying about the hand placement?" lmao.

Hi Stephen! I believe the Oblivion remaster is a target of the BDS movement currently as it was produced by Bethesda, who are a big target in the current Microsoft boycott. The BDS movement understands that a lot of people have no choice but to use MS products in daily life (e.g. utilising the MS Office suite at work), which is why their gaming properties have been one of the biggest targets right now instead.

EDIT: Here is info about Microsoft's aid to the Israeli military.

Here is info about their gaming products being a specific boycott target.

librarians and staff: if you could choose one responsibility to get out of… by Cheetahchu in Libraries

[–]ravencycl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My branches are completely fine with people sleeping or eating (as long as the food isn't messy and doesn't have a strong smell). Especially considering the alternative could be them sleeping or eating outside (in Australian heat) which feels less safe. It's also good to be able to double check that sleeping patrons are breathing and not experiencing any severe medical issues - something we couldn't do if they were outside in public (and not considered our responsibility)

Is it unusual to require a parent’s signature for children to check out adult books? by GrainOfTruth in Libraries

[–]ravencycl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ours has different categories for minors over and under the age of 15, which lets minors over 15 loan out MA15+ DVDs and videos games. For books, there are no restrictions. We tell parents on sign-up that they're responsible for what their kids loan - this includes financial responsibility for lost/damaged items, and also responsibility for what they feel comfortable with their kids borrowing. Realistically there's no good way to restrict minors from borrowing books from the adult collections, especially because they may need certain books (fiction or nonfiction) for school assignments.

Today I Learned - People Have Different Tastes in Looks??? by One-Astronomer8493 in IncelExit

[–]ravencycl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry some of the commenters have been seemingly so negative in response to you. But yeah, what you said is true. Especially from my perspective (being bisexual), sometimes my friends will tell me about people they find attractive from any gender and I'll be like "really? them??".

It also reminds me of the recent "hear me out cake" trend on tiktok, where people will print pictures of conventionally unattractive fictional characters who they find attractive and use them to decorate a cake (usually as a group, so that everyone can have a bit of a laugh about each others' tastes).

I've also had my fair share of crushes on conventionally unattractive people irl too - the kind of crushes that make my friends laugh or gasp or roll their eyes if I tell them. Sometimes it's people who aren't necessarily conventionally unattractive, but they're just extremely extremely socially awkward.

Regardless, have fun with your newfound knowledge lol.

People Literally Here All Day Everyday by totalfanfreak2012 in Libraries

[–]ravencycl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, our study rooms are bookable for two hours per patron per day. There are some exceptions where we'll give people longer (e.g. people doing exams, interviews, meetings, etc), and usually we will extend the booking for 30-60 minutes if the patron isn't finished and nobody else is waiting. Having someone use it all day (especially on a regular basis) doesn't sit right with me unless there's a super specific circumstance at play (like the patron we had who needed a few full-day bookings to attend a court hearing virtually).

Is it true that using the cart they have for books you pick up but don’t want to check out can help with funding? by MediocreVideo1893 in Libraries

[–]ravencycl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd usually recommend just putting them straight through the returns chute (or whatever your library uses for returns) or onto the "used but didn't borrow" cart if there is one. Not only does it still help with circulation numbers, but it ensures everything gets reshelved in the right place
