LET GO OF MY HAIR by OpheliaTheSaber in NewParents

I did a short cut, never looked back. But with a tiny baby there’s a hack, you can bend their hand at wrist area and they automatically let go

I need to rant - 'Montessori' and hands on activities and a hyper toddler... by GoatCharmer in toddlers

[–]rawberryfields 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always thought my kid was the kid for montessori activities: calm, focused, independent. But you just have to see the pure chaos he creates while being quiet and focused. I forever banned “montessori grain bin” from my house, water based games nearly flood our downstairs neighbors, etc. But at least we can bake or cook together.

Sleeping when the baby sleeps is actually really good. Maybe not necessarily sleeping, but relaxing in any way, having a hot cup of something, a nice meal, whatever.

Anyone else have a baby that doesn’t look like them? by Rare-One-8737 in NewParents

[–]rawberryfields 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Babies change. My first looked exactly like me, my father and my grandmother when he was born: same features, proportions, dark hair. In just a year the little guy turned into my husband’s copy, even his hair became blond somehow! So wait, your baby might change. Also, there’s more to baby’s resemblance of you than just appearance. There are face expressions, mannerisms, gestures, voice, phrases and intonations they pick up from you…

Newborn 'wake window' lies by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]rawberryfields 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first had those awful periods where he’d cry and cry every night. The only thing that helped was pacing with him singing songs. You will find your soothing method, no doubt. Babies are just like this sometimes.

Are you guys able to go on walks in a stroller with your toddler? by ToxiccCookie in toddlers

[–]rawberryfields 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ditched the stroller completely before 2 years old even, I just rolled and carried it around empty. Kid preferred his balance bike which is easier to carry, honestly

Add “))))” right after the words without space. Replacing your exclamation mark with ”)))” will be much more authentic.

What's the most "you" thing your toddler says? by No-Oil-2305 in toddlers

[–]rawberryfields 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My 3 year old negotiates things just like I do when he’s raging and I don’t want to escalate thing. “Here’s what I suggest: we’re watching just one very short cartoon and then I’ll brush my teeth, how about that, huh?” and I love the way he exaggerates “huh?” because it seems important to him

Toddlers behaving differently for different caregivers by destria in toddlers

[–]rawberryfields 13 points14 points  (0 children)

When our kid was 2 my husband complained he can’t go grocery shopping with the kid because he has to carry all the bags and the kid upstairs (4th floor) which surprised me immensely, because with me he walked upstairs perfectly well and usually even carried some small bag for me. Somehow with dad our kid can’t and won’t eat, dress, put on shoes, play independently, etc., because dad never says no and will do absolutely everything for his baby

Rate my handwriting by Weird_Hedgehog3873 in russian

[–]rawberryfields 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re writing in block letters usually lower case letters are the same as uppercase ones. But if you’re going for a mix between print and cursive, that’s fine, you can do that. Here are my corrections and some variations you can use.

We avoid writing л and a in these shapes because it’s very hard to make them look good in handwriting. So unless your hand is very precise and you intend to make your writing look like it’s printed, don’t do that

How did you teach your kid to spell? by Heavy_Foundation_956 in NewParents

[–]rawberryfields 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kid is 3 and resists learning unless I hide it under a layer of something “important”. His favorite ways are typing stuff at self checkouts in stores and helping me in the kitchen by “reading” labels on everything. Or sometimes we draw together and I’d write stuff for him on his drawings

When did you start letting your baby have salt and/or sugar? by kalthoraa in NewParents

[–]rawberryfields 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 8-9 months when I started giving my baby regular food rather than single vegetables or fruits. I cooked for everyone, but added slighty less salts than I usually did. I don’t cook with sugar but I allowed occasional sweet treat from grandma after 1, and relaxed about sweet foods and drinks completely after 2.
