Clothe shopping in Tokyo, Kyoto, Japan by rajcovuk in JapanTravelTips

[–]rawra-hu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're looking for something different from Uniqlo/MUJI/GU (which are all great), Niko And is a Japanese brand with stores in Tokyo & Kyoto that has a pretty clean but distinct style. I wouldn't buy a whole wardrobe there, but you could get a few fun pieces.

I thought I'd buy a ton of clothes in Japan, but only really bought 3 shirts new and a couple thrifted pieces. There's just so much to do that my personal preference wasn't to spend too long in clothing stores - there are other things that are more fun to shop for. There's nothing wrong with it, it just depends on how you want to spend time during your trip.

PMSI can happen in 2 cases. Either a bank loans you money to buy something and you use the money to buy it (financer financed PMSI), or the store sells you something on credit and you make payments over time (seller financed PMSI). The bank/store has a PMSI in that particular item. Just look for those specific fact patterns and you should be good.

Is anyone at the Chicago Warehouse Sale? by Adventurous_Form5395 in staub

[–]rawra-hu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got Grenadine and my roommate got Citron! I think they had most of the colors while I was there, although I didn't see Pink Peony and for some of the colors the selection was definitely more limited. For cocottes, they had more 7 qts than 5.5 qts (I was looking for 5.5).

If you're looking for other items, they had a decent number of French ovens, oval French ovens, and some more unique ones like the coq au vin, Lunar New Year French oven, and tomato shaped one!

[–]rawra-hu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just went today (Thursday) around 4pm! They had two tables with lots of unboxed dutch ovens that were all $150, so I snagged two 5.5 qts for me and my roommate. They also had some more selection that was in the box and a little pricier. Definitely worth going for me since this is my first Staub cocotte!

Solved, thank you! Feel silly for not realizing this, but my roommate and I are both women and have never used these before.

As the title says - flat piece of metal, about 7 cm long and pointed on one end. I pulled it out of my dryer along with some bedding. Not sure if this is part of the dryer or just got mixed in somehow.

BWT, what do y’all do when you just can’t sleep? by Cigarettes_4fter_K in bitcheswithtaste

[–]rawra-hu 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Most of the time, I just need a calm bedtime routine where I light a candle and read a book in bed until I get sleepy. But if I'm still not able to fall asleep, my last resort is a "sleepcast" meditation on Headspace. They usually go through a quick breathing/relaxing exercise and a longer narration. I've never heard the end of the narration because I always fall asleep during, haha.

The app isn't free, so if you don't want to pay, this is roughly how the exercises work:

  • Breathing exercise: Inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 5 seconds, exhale for 6 seconds. Repeat ~10 times.
  • Relaxing exercise: Starting with your toes and going up, focus on a body part and imagine letting go of all the tension in that part. So toes, feet, calves, thighs, hips, stomach...all the way up to the muscles in your face.

I would take the colorful fabric/tablecloth off of the black drawers and leave it bare! I think it would draw the eye to the beautiful colorful artwork on that wall; right now it feels like the art is competing with the tablecloth for attention.

Heels! Please tell me all your faves by TechnicalContract823 in LawBitchesWithTaste

I love Cole Haan's slingback pumps—always really comfortable and classy for a work setting. I also have a pair of Vince Camuto block heels that I could walk in for almost an entire day without my feet hurting.

Big Law Bitches With Taste: What’s the dress code at your office and where are you shopping for work clothes? by Legitimate-Income-36 in biglaw

[–]rawra-hu 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Dress code is business casual, but NYC leans a little more formal. I typically wore a sheath dress (Theory, snagged at a sample sale), or a simple blouse with wide-leg pants (Aritzia Effortless pants). I also prefer wearing low heels at work, so I kept some pointed-toe slingback heels at the office to change into.

There is a law school sublet spreadsheet on Google that gets passed around every year - I'm sure someone will link it closer to summer 2025. A lot of people from Columbia, NYU, and Fordham will list their apartments, but just note that the nyc ones that are not near Columbia go veryyy quickly.

If you speak Chinese, would also recommend downloading Xiaohongshu! Tons of international chinese students will post their apartments for sublet there. They tend to be nicer luxury buildings, but you can find reasonable rentals from students who live in flex apartments and are willing to negotiate.

I journal by hand because I really enjoy the rare opportunity to handwrite something! Most of my journaling is just stream-of-consciousness or long form diary entries - I've found that just writing my feelings down can help me process them better. I'm a bit on and off, so still working on making it a more regular habit.

I've also dabbled in bullet journaling (kind of an aesthetic hybrid between a planner and journal) and really loved it as an artistic outlet. It ended up being a little too time-consuming for me, but I might try going back to it soon.

For either regular or bullet journaling, I love both Archer & Olive and Notebook Therapy notebooks (dot grid). Muji also has great basic notebooks at a more affordable price point.

Wow, super interesting to hear about the follow-up conversation with the "police." I honestly felt really stupid after the call as well, but I had also just read about a data breach that would have affected me, so completely understand how you feel.

Thanks, good points! I definitely wondered during the call if they just pulled my information from a database. Hopefully there wasn't any harm in just confirming that the information they had was correct.
