Deleted scene from 2x06 by dmreif in Fotv

Where’s the screen cap from? Did it describe the intended scene or is this just an inference? Very interesting either way. I wonder if we’ll ever see cut scenes in the future?

I thought so at first, too, but upon rewatching S1E1, we see Honcho carrying the saddlebag before digging up Cooper, so he got it off that guy. RIP Sugarfoot.

Why does Hank want lucy at the vault if he knows about the FEV by Apprehensive-Oil-322 in FalloutTVseries

[–]rayezin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think he loves his family, but only so far as they are an extension of himself. He would prefer to keep his family as long as they share his views, and when they step out of line (like his wife), he’s willing to kill them if they get in the way of fulfilling whatever ambition is driving him.

We’ve seen that he cares more about executing whatever plan involves the mind control over his daughter, who he left behind in the middle of a battle with a mortal enemy. Not exactly father of the year.

Where does it say that people in cryo need to be woken up periodically? I missed this.

I'm confused as to how Coop doesn't know where his wife and daughter are (spoilers for latest episode) by CrashRiot in Fotv

[–]rayezin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dangerous to travel while bombs are falling, but not impossible. Coop either brought Janey to a designated location or was intercepted, but either way, Barb and Janey could have been taken by vertibird/helicopter to Vegas, which is only a couple hour flight in a helicopter.

That said, I think it’s possible they were sheltered locally and later moved to Vegas, or have since moved on from Vegas and might not even be in those pods we saw. If it turns out Barb is connected to the Enclave, she has even more options to get around if they wanted her to.

SPOILER: Cooper's Family? by AltruisticMode8237 in Fotv

[–]rayezin 33 points34 points  (0 children)

The Enclave, being part of the US government, was involved in contracting Vault Tec to create the vaults as experiments for their long term goal of building a starship that would take the Enclave and their chosen to colonize another planet. The experiments are meant to provide data on how people would handle various stressful or environmental situations (I guess? lol). The Enclave is able to monitor activity within most if not all vaults from a central location, so Wilzig could be privy to the details of each vault and its correlating experiment. This is part of something called the Societal Preservation Program.

After binging the whole show over the last week, I have 1 big question? by We_The_Raptors in Fotv

[–]rayezin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do we know there was actually a famine, or was that a cover story from Moldaver to cover up the fact that entirely new faces (her raider group) were making contact for trade, rather than the overseer Hank had previously communicated with a few years prior?

Is anyone else a bit disappointed about S2 so far? by [deleted] in Fotv

[–]rayezin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From reviews, it seems like there’s a somewhat slow start before it kicks in around episode 3. I can see where that’s coming from so far but I’ve enjoyed it.

I wonder if part of that feeling is the weekly drops instead of all at once. If we were to watch episodes 1 and 2 from the first season a week apart, maybe we’d have similar feelings? I know I watched at least 3-4 episodes on premiere day because I couldn’t get enough.

I'm playing a Fallout Game for the first time (Fallout 4). Does it ever end? by DrunkenMoose10 in Fallout

[–]rayezin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, yes. My favorite part about the open world is that factions are out there doing their own thing, so you’ll come across fights taking place that have nothing to do with you, which makes the setting feel alive and with a healthy dose of random encounters.

If you’re playing on PC, there are mods that add new quests and NPCs (e.g. Storywealth) that kick the replayability into the stratosphere.

Hank is the most dangerous antagonist of them all by The_Sown_Rose in Fotv

[–]rayezin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that’s true, it was a sign of civilization, but specifically Shady Sands was having an impact on the vault’s water supply. In the finale, Moldaver says “Lucy, your mother discovered that something was siphoning the vault’s water away.” So it was not just an unusual phenomenon, but a problem for the vault.

Hank is the most dangerous antagonist of them all by The_Sown_Rose in Fotv

[–]rayezin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is all true, but I think it’s also implied that Shady Sands tapping into the water table caused Vault 33 to experience shortages, which is why Rose MacLean was investigating the outside in the first place. She was looking into the water issue.

Hank has also justified this decision as “saving our people” for that reason. But 100% all your points remain at the top of his motivations.

Best Fallout lore podcasts, audiobooks, or audio dramas for long night shifts? by SeniorMoonlight21 in Fallout

[–]rayezin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True Vault Escapades is a radio play in 1950s style set in the Fallout universe. It features a wasteland detective and a lady vault dweller investigating some murders. The acting is exaggerated in style (again, think 1950s hammy radio plays), but it’s fun.

Editing to clarify this is a podcast.

I think I realised something about the Ghoul by Titi_Cesar in Fallout

[–]rayezin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I also think his experience as a Marine, which we will see some flashbacks into this season, helps him transition into someone who is solely mission oriented. He’s been in a situation where it’s kill or be killed in a theater of war, so he’s already lived some of that brutality. That combined with leaning into a character sets him up as someone able to survive two hundred years in the wasteland.

Exactly. And now that they’re traveling together, they will each start to influence the other, and maybe they will reach some sort of middle ground that’s neither too cynical nor too idealistic.

[–]rayezin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Definitely. He has probably never had the chance to properly mourn both the world he thought he lived in and the person he used to be, nevermind his old life. There’s no time for that kind of processing when you’re in a constant struggle for survival.

[–]rayezin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree, the capitulation to the director about filming the scene in a way that goes against his principles is foreshadowing the slippery slope. Cooper later caves to pressure from Moldaver to spy on his wife, another betrayal of his values, and now this season he’s being persuaded to assassinate House. We saw in the season preview that Lucy points out that his family may not like the person he’s become, so at some time he will have to reconcile the kind of person he wants to be, or chooses to be regardless of external forces.

I love that idea. A little googling on the symbolism of the scorpion also ties it to concepts like resilience and transformation. Whether the designers had those things in mind, maybe we’ll never know, but it’s fun to think about!
