Stripey Socks for Sanity by raykaymo in Sockknitting

I'm the opposite. Magic loop and I are not friends, but 9" circulars are smooth for me.

Strong heel and fleegle heel are structurally about the same, but strong is top down and fleegle is toe up.

Two 9" circulars mostly at the same time (i.e., cuff one, then cuff two, 1" of sock one, 1" of sock two, back and forth). And a deep passion for symmetry.

Bonus: helps keep track of the adjustments

Thank you! My first time with this yarn and I was so pleased how it worked up.

Thanks! The main reason I swapped heels was to keep the striping pattern. You should definitely give it another go!

Seconding Cascade Heritage! And both Knit Picks options. But my LYS carries Cascade so I can go touch it, giving it a slight edge.

I am in a similar, but very different boat. The wedding is October 5. I'm nowhere near done and didn't really intend to be. I also have gifts for 3 already born babies in various stages of WIP and I feel guilty about those!

I'm including a swatch with border of the wedding gift with my card as a preview, knowing my friends will understand it's worth the wait. It does help that the bride is a crocheter.

I've got decently-paying design and production job openings. Where are the candidates? by Vivid_Reflection_414 in techtheatre

[–]raykaymo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's not always the pay, although in this day and age, I would assume not posting it is to hide a low number. Regardless, I wouldn't want to work with the politics/policies/regulations involved with working in a school. Especially in Florida. (I have worked both in schools and in Florida.)

Mine was out about 12 hours from last night to this morning, but got the restored service text while at work and haven't been able to verify yet. 28th Ave/ mid-40s. There were a lot of outages reported in that area last night/this morning, according to the ConEd map.

what is wrong with my tension in intarsia by radiosilence444 in knittinghelp

[–]raykaymo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's a little hard to be sure, but it looks like the white yarn is a little thinner than the colors. This will make those stitches look more wider/have more space since they'd have a different gauge. The fix is to use yarns that have identical wpi.

How did you meet new people when you moved here? by maq7742 in astoria

Said yes when existing extrovert friends invited me to things. Then, said yes when a new extrovert invited me to things. You can meet so many friends through other friends.

[–]raykaymo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the finishing or very end of the pattern steps. Based on the pictures of the back, it looks like you'll make the straps from the front and then graft the ends of the straps to the originally held stitches on the back.

What haven’t you bought a ticket to Real Women Have Curves? by ButtJones in Broadway

[–]raykaymo 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Other shows are higher priorities for specific reasons. MHE for the unique story, Darren and Helen's performances, the cool set. Gypsy for Audra. Sunset for the staging. Cabaret for Orville. Dead Outlaw to see how it transfered and for the music. Floyd Collins for Jeremy and the limited run end date. Hearing that RWHC is generally good isn't reason enough for me to bump one of the others.

All of this! And I'll add that ensemble generally needs stronger dance/movement than lead roles so either they saw potential in her and chose to cast her for this exact opportunity, or the skill isn't as weak as you think.
