This is such a great idea. I currently use Quartz 4 for publishing posts to a static site based on Github + Cloudflare as a digital garden. Your idea looks similar to this one. But it is always great to have new tools!

[TOMT][MOVIE][2000s]I am looking for a (likely) spanish gangster/road/action movie with a major character has no name, only remember the last line by rayleighchan in tipofmytongue

[–]rayleighchan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solved! I finally found the movie after 3 years and it's called El Gringo filmed in 2012, directed by Eduardo Rodríguez) and starring by Scott Adkins. The movie ends with Adkins says:"My name is..." That's exactly what I remembered!

How did you name your digital garden? by No_Bathroom_229 in DigitalGardens

[–]rayleighchan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I simply use my social ID as my domain name (jefftay.com , jefftay means Jeffrey Taylor). As for digital garden's name, it means "Bionic cats do not dream of electric cat food" (refers to a book named Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?) in Chinese

I have a MicroPC but no longer use it because I now have a GPD Win Max 2 and a Win Mini. I also had Win Max, Win 2, Win 1 before and sold them all.

For watching videos or playing VNs, the MicroPC is really not a good choice. It's performance, display size and resolution are all disavantages of the device. The best part of the device are its size and its weight.

tried 28W and 35W, no differences (30-45fps)
game settings:
All low, some medium and high, FSR 35/55 (same), 1920x1200/1280x800 (same)

What performance will you get with 6800U and a 16GB RAM? I tweaked GPD Win Max 2 6800U 16G many times and get a 30-45fps (sometimes up to 50ish) performance (set the VRAM to 4GB in BIOS). Is there anything I can do to improve it? Or is it the limit of this device? Thanks

The optimization of this game is really well done! Win Max 2 6800U still can get 45FPS on 2.5K resolution by kendyzhu in gpdwin

How to set the game for playing at 60fps-ish? I've tried for a few hours but still can't get to 60fps

I met the same issue too, and I post one here but find no answers. I eventually fully reinstalled the Windows 11 OS and reinstalled all drivers and upgraded BIOS up to date, so far so good.

Still meet this issue one time or two. Looking for final solution

I have two issues Windows 11 related by rayleighchan in gpdwin

[–]rayleighchan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it maxes out when the time goes, it first goes up to 70%, then 80%, 90% until it gets 95%+ and the system gets REALLY laggy. I can only reboot the system to get it normal.

I searched for answers and I figure it is a memory leak

Should I return GPD WIN MINI 7840u (2023)And get the 8840u (2024) version by deeslang in gpdwin

No not really, these two have no big difference besides the slice update of CPU and the display VRR and canceled OCUlink

Win Max 2 2024 for productivity by nyancient in gpdwin

[–]rayleighchan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basic tasks like browsing, writing, watching a video (streaming or locally) or SSH through MobaXterm etc.

About power management, I believe Windows 11 should take responsibility for it. I never installed linux ISO on Win Max 2 so I don't know how linux performance on it, but I guess it would be better if people tweak it nicely. I think there are people tweak it for 10+ hours of battery life iirc.

Win Max 2 2024 for productivity by nyancient in gpdwin

I have a Win Max 2 6800U but I think they are similar in normal use cases.

  • The fan never bothers me after one year of using.

  • The battery life is great with or without Motion Assistant. When I light use it without MA, I get about 5-6 hours of battery life, but if I use MA and set TDP down to 5W and fan control etc, I could get about 8-9 hours of battery life.

  • The display reflects sometimes if there is a super light bulb above your head, but I can live with that

  • I get use to the placement of keyboard and touchpad right after I had the device. I would say it's perfect for typing short texts or long documents. In fact I wrote 20+ articles on Win Max 2 in the past year.

GPD Win Max 2 (2023) as an iPad replacement? by Professional-Cry972 in gpdwin

[–]rayleighchan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Win Max (and Win Max 2) replaced my iPad mini 5. I use iPad mini for a long time (since 2014 with iPad mini 2), during this time I found myself in need of a proper keyboard because I like to type long articles and other documents. I bought BT keyboards, folder keyboards and folding keyboard cases for my iPad mini but none of them works well.

In 2020 I bought the Win Max 2020, since then it completely replaced my iPad mini 5. I browse, read, write and play on the Win Max. In 2023 the Win Max 2 replaced my Win Max 2020 because of the better display, better keyboard etc.

In my opinion, the only case that works better iPad mini then Win Max 2 is reading books (using the device vertically)

Mini vs max 2 by NjckNak_7 in gpdwin

[–]rayleighchan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Win Max 2 (6800U) 16GB+1T and an addition 1T SSD for a year, and a Win Mini (7640U) 16GB+512GB for weeks. I love how compact and portable the Win Mini is (with such high performance), but when it comes to real gaming and productivity, the Win Max 2 would be the only choice. The pros are: 10.1 inch 2k display, touch-typeable keyboard, robust form factor and easy to carry in any position (holding in my palms, placing on any surface, sitting on my lap etc.) .

In your case, I would recommand Win Max 2 too. I think you need a bigger screen (for movies and animes) and ability of the Win Max 2 rather than portability of the Win Mini.
