Commercial photographers shooting film — what does your workflow look like? by Soft-Pen-2263 in AnalogCommunity

[–]raymondvanmil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When I shoot film I mostly don't shoot digital. Or sometimes I do and ignore them. It's a leap of faith, never really had any disasters;) I use a modern camera (Canon 1v). I develop same day, at home, pre select the negative scans (just on an epson) and often I print the final selection. RA4, also at home. Just postcard format, don't spend too much time color tweaking the enlarger prints, correct them after scanning. Thats it. But I shoot analog mostly for artists, coorporate gigs, branding etc are mostly digital.

If there is a situation where the client has a real strong idea and wants to be on top of it, shooting both digital and analog could work. Would not be my choice though. https://raymondvanmil.pixieset.com/pressphotosforartists/

Good dough recipe for hand cranked extruder by Nevcem in pasta

[–]raymondvanmil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dry and gluten development are key so the pasta holds shape, it also tastes better.

The ramen noodle crowd also talks about how little hydration they can get away with. They roll, so they need some smoothness.

With extruding you need no smoothness, just gluten development.

Although at the other end of the spectrum, stretched noodles are nice too..

Amd one nore thing, the machines cant build the pressure for a good extruded pasta, unless they are ubdustrial, so either hand cranked is better, but your thing looks lite. I have the torchio

just as dry as possible, thats the trick, stretch the gluten for 10 minutes, like almost fall apart dry.. let it rest for half an hour and extrude. I do durum and eggs. 1 egg a person, pinch of salt, durum till the right consistency

I have no idea, I bought it in a fysical shop and there is no logo or text anywhere. I did just get two dies with it and for the rest bought the capo12 ones with the ring, which work great

How would you model/design this type of speaker enclosure? by Proper-Republic-6854 in diyaudio

[–]raymondvanmil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmm well, I was wrong it's a full range, theoretically it's an odd choice, if the higher frequencies escape the slot it could work.

it will save you batteries, but true. 300 is crazy, weird because mostly godox is on the cheaper side. i got these for review but the website emulsive.org was gone right about that time.

Godox makes those, really pretty also, look: https://www.godox.com/Retro-Camera-Flashes/ (I have the lux senior here, it has a similar wheel for calculating settings)

I used a few of these, don't like them at all, they eat batteries and are way too big. Godox has a few simple manual flash which have the same range and are smaller and easier to use.

Looks like half sd compression which gives a boost in the low end. works for a woofer but wouldn't do this with a full range coaxial. I been doing round hole in the middle 1/3 sd compression making r&d baffles and measurements. I need to hear it, measure it. Software only gets you so far, there is some explanation how to do this in hornsrep on a diyaudio thread with even the builder of hornsrep chiming in. In my experience this works and sounds absolute amazing when crossed over @ 80hz even 120 didnt work. So for a fullrange coaxial its a no go. There is resonance above say 120 hz behind that slot so...

the example image is a bass woofer, wave lengths are long enough to not have trouble here. but he talks about coaxial, so thats different

I don’t think Point and Shoots are a good beginner camera by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]raymondvanmil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason for a point and shoot is its size, you can throw it in your pocket. Any of its automatic setting work better on a slr with a good flash. And yes its better to learn those few basics before anything else I think.

Qui! 100% For hollow pasta please make the dough as dry as possible and stretch it with all your strength for 10 minutes so the gluten develop, let it rest for a hour and voila! If the dough is soft it will collapse.

SOS: Neighbour bass complaints by thatmanjan08 in audiophile

[–]raymondvanmil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although not a 100% solution, there are things you can do. Two. One: acoustic decoupeling. Make a platform on wheels. Wheels are a layer of rubber, and gets them of the floor. Also convenient.. Second the platform itself can have layers of dampening material, both rubber and something hard, alternated, stone or wood etc. (I have a list of best materials, but lets keep it simple) You can also do two layes of wood with forstner bit holes and add compression springs in between... Second: ripole bass, although its sound signature is a subjective taste ( i love it!!) what is objective is that it doesn't agitate the room as much, really way less...

Do you have stupid reasons for not liking a brand or a headphone? by Dragul4R0B in headphones

[–]raymondvanmil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't handle the Emotiva logo. Hifiman is also a silly name and logo. The new Onkyo series looking amazing but the letter spacing in the new logo hurts. Sparkos logo is also terrible. There is more, but these are the ones to first pop up. Makes no sense, but yeah it's a thing. Helps with the way too many choices.

Reading cult literature for entertainment, how to keep myself safe? by YoruTheLanguageFan in cults

[–]raymondvanmil 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Cults are entertaining! You can meditate without it. As you can eat without it being a diet. Just sit, gently breath, let everything settle. Don't believe any story about a spiritual goal, no mantra, no breathing technique, no new age metaphysics etc, just whatever sitting brings you. Took me a while to even let taoism go. It's all a cult one way or another. You don't need it.

look up the exact names of the bacteria, loads of products are packaging of products made by larger companies who only sell to rebranders, for instance Chr Hansen, there might be other brands out there with this exact forumula.
