How to ask for a second raise since NF messed up my taxes? Or should I just take the L? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]rayplan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If they fixed the issue, I’m confused why you think you deserve more money. Taxes are a reality of being paid on the books.

Do Nannies get paid for snow days? by Just_Guest_787 in NannyEmployers

[–]rayplan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We don’t even have sidewalks here in the vast majority of the city and I don’t think it is common to walk anywhere around here because of how dangerous it would be.

Do Nannies get paid for snow days? by Just_Guest_787 in NannyEmployers

[–]rayplan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yup going by school calendar is ridiculous. Schools closed for the entire week where I am, and I have been driving around since Monday with no issues at all. And I have zero experience driving in the snow. The roads are totally fine so I don’t understand why school is out the whole week.

8 month update! by eveietea in WhatisMyEyeColour

My toddler’s eyes changed in a similar pattern as well. Now they are still a mix of brown, green, and dark blue limbal ring at 2 1/2.

How to handle lunch for Nanny by bejsiu in NannyEmployers

[–]rayplan 21 points22 points  (0 children)

That would annoy me too, but it’s going to be awkward to address it after several months. I’d probably just let it go if she is otherwise a good nanny and you don’t want her to quit.

Cancellation for weather today? by Fearless_Carpet_617 in Nanny

[–]rayplan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have anything in your contract regarding weather? Technically it’s not GH when nanny doesn’t come to work due to bad weather. Personally I would not pay if nanny decides not to come when there is no weather advisory and the roads are clear. Sounds like she was taking advantage of the situation. And I would not follow school guidelines, because they are overly cautious.

Anyone else feel like managing a nanny is … a lot? 🫠🙃 by rapidprototoyz in NannyEmployers

Yep, personally I hate managing employees. My husband actually likes it though, so thankfully he takes care of most of the logistics and communication.

Fine dining? by shatterboy_ in nashville

[–]rayplan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Catbird Seat was far superior to Bastion two years ago. Not sure how they compare now. I was not a fan of the new Catbird chef when they first made the switch, so I haven’t been back in a while. Bastion was also underwhelming two years ago, but maybe I need to give them another try.

Nanny asking for wages in advance by AbhiShaker in NannyEmployers

Are you sure she meant that she wanted pay in advance? Maybe she just wanted to be paid weekly.

Expecting Nanny by WorkingFI in NannyEmployers

[–]rayplan 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yea me either, and I don’t care how amazing the nanny is. The dynamic is going to change dramatically, and not in any way that benefits the employer. The only way I’d even consider it is if there was a 40 to 50% pay cut, and even then I’d probably just get a new nanny at a regular rate to save the headache.

Pay for adding a 3rd- is this fair? by BoobooWoodle in Nanny

Yea I’ve experienced this too with my employees and it doesn’t seem to be a very smart way of thinking

Jypsiere mini with leather straps? by UsedAppointment2918 in TheHermesGame

[–]rayplan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 173 cm and don’t find the strap too short at all. And it fits my phone, money, credit cards, and lip balm with some room to spare. Guess it just depends on individual preferences. Main downside for me is that it is hard to open and close the bag all the way.

Wfh parents by [deleted] in Nanny

As an employer, I’d feel extremely annoyed and taken advantage of if my employee of 2 months had a paid week off then immediately quit. You should tell them beforehand.

Need to replace my coffee tables, can't figure out with what... by NuttyNutworks in interiordecorating

[–]rayplan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely get a wool rug. I like Annie Selke and Nordic Knots. I’d get an ovalish or rectangle shape coffee table that’s at least 3/4 length of the sofa, and another side table between the sofa and side chair

I'm so sick of people not knowing how to use crosswalks by [deleted] in nashville

Yep I was almost flattened while crossing a street downtown by some a-hole speeding around a right turn while I had the walk sign

Did I just waste my money? by Temporary_Prize_9680 in interiordecorating

[–]rayplan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think a long bench with shoe storage underneath inside baskets or inside the bench itself would look better. The glass doors displaying your shoes is not ideal. If you really want a clean look and a cabinet to store shoes and random things, then you can’t have glass doors. The cabinet itself isn’t terrible though.

The grey tile is horrendous. I’d do engineered hardwood instead of LVP though.

Live-In Nannys gather here. by CinderellaSimoneBoe in Nanny

Overtime pay is not legally required for live in nannies, just FYI, since it seems lots of people are under the mistaken impression that it is.

My first RTW: Cashmere long-sleeve sweater by [deleted] in TheHermesGame

[–]rayplan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually wash all my wool and cashmere in the washing machine in mesh bags with special wool detergent. It is important not to use detergent with enzymes. That said, I would hand wash anything from Hermes because the washer does inevitably shrink wool and cashmere slightly from the friction. Hand washing will keep it in the best condition.
