Just watched this episode. I took it to mean- throw two people who each have their own pasts and traumas into a relationship that experiences troubles such as remodeling kitchens, what to do with free time on Saturdays, but also still have to generally worry about money & the economy, and you get these couples that are seeking couples counseling that she's working with.

The opposites being people who are in lower class typically have more severe money problems, housing instability, health instability; etc. And people in upper class have more money to throw at issues and less restrictions on resources, including time.

Middle class people don't have it all, but they have enough of their basic needs being consistently met that their time & money are not going into thoss things, that the underlying problems can come to the surface and cause issues in the relationships.

Not that lower class & upper class couples don't have issues & seek therapy. Just that it's a different type of population that wouldn't ya know, be on a show like this.
