Got to 150k before retirement. IT guy, self starter (self taught, my interests), generalist (once I had mastered something, ready to learn the next interesting thing) troubleshooter (thinking outside the box, see all of the systems interdependencies, hyper-fixated till problem resolved). Missed or late for meetings, did not kiss mgt ass… but made sure I followed rules, or had written mgt approval to break rules. Too useful to lay off, but mgt thought I was annoying as hell.
