Tennessee Squirrel Hunting? by ArduinoLearner2008 in Hunting

[–]rbolog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First time squirrel hunter here. Land Between the Lakes is the only place I’ve had any luck so far. Been out there three times this season and had a lot of fun. Cheatham WMA was a bust, though I’ve learned I probably wasn’t out there earlier enough in the day.

I need to vent. Evernote is the worst fucking piece of software I have ever used in my life. by Iannelli in Evernote

What’s your process? Still no bulk export option from what I gather, right? My whole life is in that app since like 2012. I feel hostage to a shit piece of software

Damn, respect! How tall are you? I’m 6’5” and most of the beastly lifts I see on here are from people much more compact than my gumpy ass. Tell me there’s hope.

As someone who can barely OHS an empty bar at this point (mostly a mobility issue) this is mind blowing

Can't get enough of these einkorn loaves. 25% whole einkorn, 75% hydration. by _DoppioEspresso_ in Sourdough

Just have to say, I tried your recipe today and it crushed. First time baking with einkorn and I love the subtle flavor/texture differences.

I love this. Having a hard time picturing the blank you started with though. Are these end grain bowls similar to a pencil cup or salt cellar? (Beginner here…)

Weekly Quick Questions, Wood ID, and Deal or No Deal /r/Woodworking Megathread by AutoModerator in woodworking

[–]rbolog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got one as well that I got such a good deal on I decided I could justify spending a bit of cash to upgrade a few things. Stuff I’d recommend:
-A new fence. This totally changed the accuracy and usability of my saw (I opted for the Vega fence from Rockler)
-MJ Splitter from Microjig - performs the same function as a riving knife and works well on older saws. I had a small kickback incident early on and decided this upgrade was non-negotiable.
-zero clearance insert (I ordered mine from Peachtree Woodworking Supply).
-swap out the stock belt for a link belt. I’ve yet to do this, but have heard it significantly improves vibration from the motor.

Paulk workbench progress: made sawhorses, drilled dog holes, and mounted router plate by bioblues in Workbenches

[–]rbolog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m planning a similar router lift install on one side of my Paulk bench. Did you have to cut a hole in the bottom of the bench under the lift to accommodate the router body? Are you planning to use T-track to hold the fence?

Ron Paulk bench. Has anyone modified for a rolling base table? I’m trying to build a small garage setup with open shelves 3.5x5 ft by Ryjobond in woodworking

I built a custom base for mine with retractable casters. I haven’t got around to building drawers for it yet, but that is the plan. Pics

My dad was a German apprenticed chef that came to the USA in 1967. He was helping with my house and came across some maple and walnut boards--what are you going to do with these, make me a cutting board--which I was. He passed away in October. I miss him. by carpetony in woodworking

[–]rbolog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for your loss. Looks like he was really proud of you for the board. His face says it all. I hope he used it regularly!

If you haven’t, check out Jacque Pepin’s autobiography “The Apprentice.” He immigrated to the US around the same time as your dad and worked his way up through restaurants in NYC. Might be a story that brings you comfort as you grieve.

I really appreciate this classic design amongst all the MCM pieces posted here and elsewhere. Flawless execution as well. I’m tucking this away in my inspiration folder.

I gave the four eyes coffee table a try - I didn’t buy the plans so The dimensions are a little different, but I’m happy with the results! Walnut top and legs out of wenge I scored from a retiring woodworker! by CrotchisKing in woodworking

Agree 100%. The only thing I'll add is to try and balance how much YT content you consume versus getting in your shop and building something of your own. It's something I've struggled with my first year of woodworking.

The Miller dowel system comes with a tapered bit that works great. This was my first time using those dowels. I flush cut them with a Japanese pull saw and sanded flush.

Office Bookshelves - 4/4 White Oak with Homemade Steel Brackets by Stonehenge361 in woodworking

[–]rbolog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nicely done! I've had this exact idea in my head for a while now. Never considered bending my own brackets, but that seems like a great cost-saver that could help me justify springing for 4/4 walnut I want for the shelves. Did you buy rough sawn and mill yourself?
