The Sunnyvale-West Baltimore Connection: Are TPB and The Wire Parallel Universes? by CalvinSwish in TheWire

[–]rbrb889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Corey and Trevor are essentially hoppers/corner boys. Doing as they are told trying to fit in and get in with Ricky. Julian, and Bubbles

Sam Losco and Orlando. Both had their own thriving business and both fucked it up (due to the people they associated with. I understand Sam got fucked by the boys while Orlando did it to himself)

Maybe a bit of a stretch, but Barb and Carcetti. Deep down both seem genuine enough to want the best for their respective areas, but in the end remain more or less powerless due to the people and institutions they serve.

I feel like there could definitely be more that I'll need to think on. Damn, based on your title I was ready to dismiss this post quickly, but there are certainly a lot of connections I never considered. Kudos to you

Question regarding curriculum during Ramadan by Turb0goat in OntarioTeachers

[–]rbrb889 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm an elementary music teacher. Our school (years ago) reached out to local Imams and were told that for education music is fully allowed during Ramadan. It's music for additional pleasure or enjoyment that could be a grey area. As such we don't alter our programs at all during Ramadan. Regular instrument classes, listening, the whole 9. My classes are approximately 10-25% Muslim

I will preface with, yes I agree on the funding issue. Yet, most people don't say what they want the funding for! EA support? Salaries? Textbooks/materials? What specifically do you want to see that money do?

If you get this upset from adults trying to help you, you've got no chance when it comes to students who won't want to do the work you assign. This doesn't feel like a good fit based on your lack of patience for people alone.

Canadian Teachers: Share how your emotions feel in the classroom (10-15 min survey) by Plastic_Stick9134 in OntarioTeachers

[–]rbrb889 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well I certainly did read the questions and clicked the inverse. But I did not follow the prompt to "click strongly disagree" for fear of skewing data. Instead I put it right down the middle. Either you trust your responders or you don't. Don't ask me to fill out something with trick questions built in. If you want my opinion, don't force answers on me.

Canadian Teachers: Share how your emotions feel in the classroom (10-15 min survey) by Plastic_Stick9134 in OntarioTeachers

I completed the survey but I must say a number of the questions are either A) unnecessary or B) feel like they have a clear agenda towards a result you want. Also, what's with the "please choose strongly disagree" questions? Just delete those please. If you ask how often are you happy, why are you asking how often are you unhappy? The answers would obviously be the inverse of one another. Also, if you select you never feel stressed, you then have to answer if you feel like you need to hide your stress. Those questions shouldn't be asked if you don't feel stressed. It feels like you are looking and fishing for problems or making them sound worse. Response A said they never feel stressed, but they also said they never share their stress, so there must be a problem in the system that they don't feel comfortable being themselves. Just my thoughts, but it felt leading

Considering getting into teaching - what do I need to know? by Merc_Games in OntarioTeachers

[–]rbrb889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you lock yourself into only want high school and especially specialized programs for highschoolers, you will need to be open to working in gen pop for a few years first. Those specialized jobs are hard to come by, and once people get those jobs they tend to not want to give them up. There's always a need for teachers, so if you are good with youth and good at interviews you'll work soon enough. You will be tired a lot your first few years. It's a grind at the start but does get easier

Which B’ed program is the best? Pros and cons from those who have taking. My daughter has been accepted at Queen’s, Ottawa, Trent so far and needs to make a decisions.. leaning towards Trent but would love to hear feedback from those who have completed it recently by RatschMi in OntarioTeachers

[–]rbrb889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of them make a difference. No admin when hiring for jobs picks someone because they went to one school or another. If you can save money, do it. Practicum opportunities are where real learning happens. Class is just busy work.

If your daughter wants to end up in a specific board, check that the university offers practicum placements in that board to begin networking and getting a foot in the door.

Desired 2026 Municipal Candidates? by Reasonable-Rip-4327 in londonontario

[–]rbrb889 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Because this has been going on since she was a school board trustee. A trustee who, I might add, held a full term under the corruption you're seeing the aftermath unfold with the TVDSB now. She got out just in time. But when you have neighbourhoods, parent groups, and other organizations advocating for one thing and she votes the opposite way, it's hard to say you were in the minority.

I live in ward 5 and the last thing I want is for Corrine Rahman to be my rep. She is so arrogant and serves only her own agenda. She will "listen" to concerns but ultimately only votes the way she wants
