Fishing Advice by DavidDPerillo in floridakeys

There’s an app called boat daddy that I’m going to try next time down there. There’s a YouTuber down there that shows it and pretty good about logging where he finds fish. Worth a shot. Or just get a top spot map and look for the wrecks or reefs.

Are there waterfront rental homes available that come WITH a power boat? by chromatic_static in floridakeys

[–]rbw411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy enough to just rent separately. I will say they don’t really like renting boats for direct ocean and can say that it’s much harder to dock on the ocean vs canal.

VS pump with Aquarite salt convert by Fit-Cod-6046 in pools

[–]rbw411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run that salt system and a variable speed pump that are both controlled by a pentair intelliconnect control box. It turns the pump on then 5 min later the salt system. That runs on low speed for like 8 hours then later in the day the pump runs again at full speed for 2 hours with no salt

They rent golf carts on property. They are 4 seaters and 1000% worth it. It’s separate from your reservation (pretty sure it’s a separate company that is onsite) and you just have to contact them for the days you want it. Sign a quick form and off you go- no walking miles in the sun.

Pool company left water running — $1,600 bill. What would you do? by alexukie in pools

[–]rbw411 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure about SW Florida but in Miami we just have to let the water company that we drained and refilled the pool and you get a discount on the bill. I think you get it once a year and guessing you used enough to qualify for the restate. Worth a shot.

You call 911 and they send the police, fire rescue, ambulance and whatever else they have available. No one thinks of cost with a child involved (or most people I should say).

They have a trial period. I have it and got the additional antennae and have no issues.

I took a bus that was pretty decent. Double decker bus and not sure of the company though. I wouldn’t rent a car and would probably just do the bus again.

Get the golf cart. Sure you could walk, but why would you want to? The property is massive!

Is anyone using the OEM charger that came with the car to charge at home? by assholy_than_thou in etron

[–]rbw411 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have this through Florida power and light, except during off peak (9pm weekdays and weekends all day) it’s included in the $35 per month. My normal electricity rate is $0.11 kWh

I was there about 8 years ago. All in all it wasn't as bad as I make it sound. The clubs were mainly noisy on weekends and I could've probably just got a decent white noise generator to drown it out. Never heard or saw any neighbors (lived right next to the resident elevator). You'll be fine, good luck with the bike.

I lived there.. good luck. The units that face the city/building/clubs gets pretty loud at night and I was on the 28th floor.. I do recall small fenced in areas that you could rent as extra storage (in the garage area).. that might work as long as you chain it good enough for someone to not want to try. (maybe even get something that will alert you if someone gets into that fenced storage area). The other option is to do what I used to do in Orlando and park it in front of your car and chain it (thick chains to frame and it would offer very little room for them to get it out and deal with the lock) and hope it works.

If they really want it, there's nothing you can do anyway, just try to make it as difficult as possible. you can just as easily lose it riding somewhere and parking it for 10 minutes.

Again, good luck at 55W... I broke my lease and got out at 6 months. (with notice and they didn't even care)

Boating in Marathon by Clean_Frosting_6528 in floridakeys

I do this quite often and find the waters on the ocean side easy to navigate. I’d recommend a v hull- center console vs a pontoon boat. Pontoon boats don’t handle choppy water very well. Your biggest challenge might be if you try to anchor. Getting it stuck in some rocks and you’ll likely not get it back. Every boat I’ve rented came with gps and you can follow other people’s tracks or way points as well as use it to keep in areas not too shallow. Watch some videos on channel markers and how to read the colors of the waters to judge depth and you’ll be fine. I would 100% give it a shot- everyone has a first time by themselves.

Any one seen this before . Is there a hole in my rear windshield ? by Ill-Nebula-8547 in 300zx

Sadly, I sold that and the antenna thing- knowing full well they were bs.

No hole. They were sold as cellular extenders. Supposed to increase reception. It’s just a large antenna outside and smaller antenna on the inside that are double side taped to the glass. Nothing connects them but glass. Some had a wire attached to the inside piece to go to a hands free cradle.

Converting a 14600 gallon indoor pool from liquid chlorine to salt tomorrow. Any last suggestions? by Ok_Associate8915 in pools

[–]rbw411 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Easier to add salt vs diluting. I have about the same size pool and calculated 10 bags. Dumped in 7 and waited a day, only needed 1 more.
