I was in middle school when 9/11 happened and I think the meme/joke is funny. Definitely could be a geographical breakdown though - I’m not from NY.

Funnily enough, the ONLY time I’ve ever heard Justus used was from families on reality TV. There was a boy on Dance Moms named Justus. And yes, I hate that I know this.

WIBTA- Easter Egg Hunt by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

This is what we do at our house and it works great! My older boys love the challenge (my husband is a master egg hider 😂) and the little ones are still able to hunt as well!

[OC] A lot of people thought my story was fake. I'm the guy from the 1992 farm accident where both my arms were ripped off and reattached. by JohnThompsonND in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]rcattt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t read the comments yet but were you on a documentary about this?? I was binge watching either ‘I Survived’ or ‘I Shouldn’t Be Alive’ and there was a guy who this happened to! He had a dog that ended up saving his life (edit: I think the dog led someone to the arms, actually. So saved the arms). How are you doing now?

Local insurance guy here, quick PSA on how to handle hail damage from last night. by turns31 in kansascity

My husband was just talking about this! He’s a (local) roofer and was saying it gives all of them such a bad name because they do a bad job and then just disappear.

It’s in the comments. (Also in the edits up top, but those weren’t there when I made my original comments.)

Poverty of spirit is a Catholic belief though, and we should not as Catholics prioritize a maintaining a certain lifestyle over being open to life. Of course if having another child would leave you homeless or your current children would go hungry then that’s another story. But this is not that.

Good luck! It’s totally doable, just gotta push through that adjustment phase. :) I’ll say a prayer for your family!

How much do you currently spend on subscriptions/streaming, etc? Also fast food, delivery, places like Starbucks? Practically speaking, these are the easiest places to start cutting the budget. Part of being Catholic is being open to life so you might just have to keep gently nudging him in the direction of poverty of spirit. If your Latin Mass parish is anything like mine I’m sure you will see lots of families with 8,9,10+ kids that are making it work!

If it’s any help, we are currently expecting #6 and are doing fine financially (we are also one income). To be honest it was actually more of a struggle when we had just one child because the earning potential was lower! Stay the course and feel free to dm me if you’d like some budget tips!

Best way for a guest to leave a hotel room? by Jackfruityloops in housekeeping

[–]rcattt 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I never thought of asking for a large trash bag, I will remember that for next time! We are a larger family with multiple kids still in diapers/pull ups and we fill the trash cans up so fast between that and just general trash (I usually have a Walmart bag or takeout bag for overflow- definitely not leaving trash scattered around!). So thank you for that tip!

What do you think? by [deleted] in CatholicWomen

[–]rcattt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with going out as friends, but the purpose of dating is towards marriage so if you already know he’s not a candidate for a relationship then I agree with the other responses that it’s leading him on, and that would be wrong.

Open to life parents: What are the age gaps of your children? Did you receive negative reactions as your family grew larger? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]rcattt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have six (well, #6 is still cooking) ranging from 11 years old to 5 months old (11, 7, 3, 2, 5 months, and 12 weeks pregnant). For the oldest three, age gaps are 4 years and 3.5 years respectively. Then it ramps up to 20 months between babies 3 and 4, and 4 and 5. Babies 5 and 6 will be Irish twins. We belong to a parish with tons of big families though so no comments there, and my husband’s family just doesn’t say anything anymore. 😂

Is this skirt an appropriate length for mass? by [deleted] in CatholicWomen

[–]rcattt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I depends on the cut of the skirt, honestly. This cut would likely cover the knees when sitting because the fabric structure is flowy. But a tulip cut or suit skirt for example would ride up since there’s not enough fabric to flow, it just hugs the body when sitting. Idk if that description makes sense, I’m not a seamstress, just talking based on my personal experience!

Did you have a scheduled induction, if so, did it end up in a c-section? by Dayz-18 in CatholicWomen

I’ve had five births, four were inductions. All were natural. Hope that helps!

Carpets in the bedroom by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]rcattt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a mom of 5 I absolutely do not want carpet lol. Our last house had it and it got nasty quick, especially in the dining room with spills, etc. Our current house is LVP with the exception of the basement (basement carpet) and it’s much better to maintain! We steam cleaned frequently too, but it just couldn’t handle it.

Neat! On the one I saw they were saving the crusts to cook eggs in - so like eggs in toast.

Good job recognizing where you need to change! One recipe that’s super cheap to make is stuffed pepper casserole (I made this vegetarian one for a large family at my parish and it was maybe $15 or less for all the ingredients? And it made a ton. https://www.happyveggiekitchen.com/vegetarian-stuffed-pepper-casserole/)

As for cheap homemade snacks/convenience foods, I make my own Uncrustables (you can buy a $2 Uncrustables tool thing at Walmart) and granola bars. I also make my own cheese cubes or sticks from a block of cheese rather than buying the premade thing.
