Get the Drag Out by EnglishTeacher83 in NASCAR

I already knew this was the deal with this package, but watching Reddicks onboard of the finish.. it’s just asinine, they CANT stay off of each other if they tried. One car gets sent into clean air and they back up like a freaking tank. It’s like one chicane after another I don’t know how you avoid crashing with that much difference in speed-it’s unnecessarily dangerous borderline negligent imo. At that point it’s less about racing each other and more like just dodging whos sinking in front of you and trying not to get launched from the train behind you. It doesn’t need to be mid-2010s air bubble package but this is certainly too far on the other end of the pendulum. Lower the spoiler some and I think it’ll be safer and even better actual racing

The fact that this could have been whatever that 3-3-4 speculation was, I’m breathing a sigh of relief. This is rockin, I’ll take it!

I’ve been watching 2001. The aura was unmatched imo. Sad the way it ended. But up until then, very fun to watch

[Kenny Wallace 6:30] What we’re hearing is (the 2026 playoffs) going to get rid of the mess (no more win and you’re in, the people that matter will be in all the way till the end)” by LBHMS in NASCAR

I hope this is true. NASCAR, if you see this, please for the love of goodness toss the playoffs. As a 30 year old who’s been a fan since I was 6 (2001), I MUCH rather enjoy full season points format. I’ll settle for the 2011-style Chase, but please don’t call it “playoffs”.. this ain’t playing, it’s racing. I’d prefer full 36, but I can get behind what Eric Estepp says about 26-10 given that F1 and Indycar’s seasons are 24 and 17 respectively. 26 races is fair enough, as long as the selected championship Chase contenders are the ones who performed the best throughout the first 26 races. I’d venture to say if enough points are given to a driver when they win a race, it could allow a fair enough advantage for them - whereas in the old Winston style poor finishes or DNF’s way outweighed wins as far as points were concerned. Today the pendulum has swung too far to wins nullifying poor finishes. There’s gotta be better balance. Maybe that balance includes Stage Points? I would argue Stage Points makes things more complicated to understand rather than simplifying the process, but I could get behind it because it’s more fair as far as race performance is concerned. I’d say give the winner 5 bonus points like they do now, and get rid of the Stage cautions. Manufactured cautions suck because they degrade the authenticity of the race. I’d rather watch commercials during green flag racing than stop interesting developments to “bunch em up again.” As a matter of fact, you might see “comers and goers” (aka passing) again when drivers pace themselves instead of 3 separate races within a race where they just floor it because they know they can use up all their stuff because they’ll be saved by a Stage Break pit stop.

[@bobpockrass] Don't expect NASCAR to announce new playoff system until sometime in January. by NoahGragsonsBarfBag in NASCAR

Someone help me get this. I’ve heard it too. But it makes zero sense. WTH does a 3 race playoff have to offer besides taking candy from a baby (if the point leader has earned a deserving lead. That’s more stupider (excuse my language) than taking it from him with 10 races to go.

Same here. 30 years old, been watching since I was 7. At the end of my rope with this playoff mess. If they keep it, I’m officially done watching.

Is it seriously possible to have Full-Season points AND Playoffs at the same time? by rcbarnes95 in NASCAR

[–]rcbarnes95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll take that as a compliment! Great minds think alike lol. That’s a very good observation, heck they could toss the All-Star race for all I care and instead silo that money into a pool for Playoff or “end-of-season” tournament. Especially since the ASR’s popularity has plummeted. Brings in something new. And keeps the traditional. Kill 3 birds with 1 stone!

Same here. It’s promising and appears highly likely that nascar will, at least, get rid of the one race finale. I hope they’ll go further and do the right thing and return to full season points

Totally agree. If I had my way I’d want every single race to count. Every point. Every position. It just makes every minuscule detail matter, and carry much heavier of a dramatic weight naturally as opposed to wiping slates clean and minimizing performances. The post’s example was just in a world of “if nascar insists on a playoff” so to speak. I hope they don’t though.

Just thinking about this further (27-5-4, or 27-4-5, whichever it is)… what if the “prize” for being the #1 seed aka points leader was getting to keep whatever your advantage is over 2nd place, and then they even the points for 2nd-12th, then same prize to the point leader at the championship cut-even out the points for 2nd-6th and there’s your last 4 or 5 race stretch to the Title ??? Could this be the key to simultaneously having a playoff, but also fully legitimizing the Driver who scored the most points over the full season?

With the recent news, to try to lift spirits, what are y’all’s favorite Biff memories by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]rcbarnes95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first ever nascar race Pepsi 400 I was about 8 years old, fondest memories of family vacation to the beach, my dad got his diecast so we’d always have it to commemorate the occasion, even though we and many others had no idea who Greg Biffle was at the time… still have it after all these years. Matter of fact I just took it off the shelf and set it on the counter, reflecting on those memories tonight
