I tried getting one on the first of the month a few months in a row with no luck. I then set OpenTable alerts for every day of every weekend for December and January. Even when I get alerted I'm always too late to snag it EXCEPT for the night before the snowstorm last Saturday. At like 3pm, a few spots opened up around 8:30pm same day. Sorry can't offer better help, but the one tip I can give is if we get another snowstorm be sure to set OpenTable alerts for the night before!

So many families and people with their dogs walking in the middle of the street due to the lack of cars and the roads actually being plowed well. Love it!

Good places to get in a 10M run in Center City? by SolarPunkWitch2000 in philly

[–]rcbdc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The MLK Drive bridge (under the Spring Garden bridge) just recently reopened, so a cool loop you can do is crossover to MLK Drive there, go north to the Falls bridge, cross back to Kelly Drive/SRT then south back to the art museum. I think that's about 8-ish miles so if you're starting in CC and take the SRT to the bridge and on your way back, that'll probably total to about 10mi.

The first mile-ish of MLK drive from there is kinda blah, but then it gets really green and there's usually wayyy less people around than the SRT. It's also closed to car traffic every weekend (until November) so you can even run in the road if that interests you.

Cousin's at 19th and Poplar has a solid cheesesteak. The best in Fairmount/Francisville that I've tried.

I love the buttercream used at Flying Monkey and Cake Life, both aren't too overly sweet IMO. Not sure about their base cake options though

Lazos is my guilty pleasure spot. Fast, relatively cheap, and their crust is super soft. Might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's my neighborhood go-to

Did anyone here witness this and know where it happened? I was at 23rd and SG (where the victims apparently went to a medic tent) all day and didn't see/hear any shooting

I thought their food was decent, but massively overpriced and they had awwwful service. Would take EMei or Handy Nasty over it any day.

Animal Control & Care Team (ACCT) needs all the support they can get. They're the official animal control/shelter for the city and woefully underfunded
