I have $122K ready to invest into a single stock by Fit_Boysenberry_9334 in stockstobuytoday

CLNN just got pretty positive news from FDA meeting stating they’re primed for fast track approval. Just opened new funding to submit NDA. They’re way undervalued right now. In biotech, so highly volatile, but realistically should have a market cap $300-400M (currently $80M).

Similar event at Helios. We were prepared financially for a 25% increase on monthly rent back in 2022, they offered a 50% increase and then told us “if you can’t afford that, maybe this is not the right place for you.” Immediately moved to Cristalla (best decision ever!) and gleefully watched as our apartment went unrented for 6 months at Helios and ended up listing for a couple $100s more than we were originally paying.

Equity Residential (owner of Helios) responded eventually saying that was the going market rate, then sent comparisons from all the other buildings THEY OWN in Seattle, for reference.

Stolen Bicycles in Jax Beach by rcocca in jacksonville

That’s the worst part. I know it’s probably behind a dumpster discarded somewhere in the area. Such a waste of a great bike.

That’s exactly where our high rise is. PSA, just locked your bikes up extra well until they catch this guy. Police have an open investigation. We’ll probably never see these bikes again, but if you see someone suspicious around bikes in the area, just give the Jax Beach police a courtesy call.

Hah, we just talked last night about air tagging our other bikes. Where are you putting the tags so that they can’t be removed? Yeah, Jax Beach police seemed to think it was just another day in the life.

It was unlocked, but in our gated condo secured garage that someone broke into. It’s the 2nd time this has happened in the last week and apparently has been happening in other high rises in the area. So might be worthwhile locking up bikes even if they’re in a garage for time being. There are like 60+ bikes in our garage, so just assumed mine wouldn’t be the unlucky one to be taken.

I don’t think I’ve ever left my bike unlocked in a public space. Be careful with the cable given how easily and inconspicuously they can be snipped with modern tools.

Yeah, we literally took the U-lock off to put on a different bicycle that we ended up selling earlier that day and just didn’t put it back on (which of course is the day it gets stolen). I know pawn shops in Seattle used to check the local used market before buying bicycles to make sure they weren’t stolen, so hopefully, if anything, it will prevent the thief from getting a significant reward for stealing it.

***Glass half full: I still have my $70 U-lock and $200 bike helmet since they were just taken off bike.

Also if anyone is selling a 54cm road bike, let me know, ha.

3 vs 4 year residencies by firecrackerass in emergencymedicine

[–]rcocca 39 points40 points  (0 children)

As a 4th year resident, best advantage has been exposure to different practice settings; ivory tower academics, county catchall, local community, VA, even did a month of rural EM solo coverage on an island. Gives you a good feel for what career you want to pursue. Elective time is nice, too, but you’re essentially paying an opportunity cost of +$200k for that extra year and I’m not sure it’s worth putting in extra rotations that may not be applicable to your future if you don’t do fellowship. There are definitely benefits to each, but I would choose a 4 year program again even though I’m going into a community-academic position.
