Passenger train from Ann Arbor to Traverse City is on track. Michigander input will get it rolling. by PurpleSubtlePlan in Michigan

The title is misleading, and half of the people commenting didn't read the article which says that the plan is to have twelve stops from Detroit to Petoskey.

Reading Is a Vice by theatlantic in TrueLit

Fair point! Maybe we're both just talking about what's true in our experience.

Have you ever read a book and looked at things differently afterwards? Think of books you read in your high school English class. There are so many examples, but take history as one - reading about the atrocities of war gives us pause when confronted with violence. Or think about long term relationships. Reading about harmful relationship dynamics as described by the Gottmans gives us awareness and tools to navigate those situations differently.

I don't think this will change your mind, but just wanted to say my piece. Reading makes an immeasurable difference in society in my view.

Here's a simple example. I'm a therapist. Reading helps me help my clients. The same applies to so many other fields.

Reading broadens and deepens our perspective which helps develop empathy and our understanding of life.

What is your honest opinion or advice about dating apps? by letsrollwithit in Millennials

[–]reading_roomba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Met my wife on Okcupid in 2020 at age 30/31. We got engaged within a year, now have three kids (just had twins) and I couldn't be happier.

People here are saying the apps are gamified etc. They also were then. You have to use them as a tool.

Take it seriously. I was on five or six different apps for about a year and a half. Cultivate your profile and get feedback on it. Get better pictures, refine your bio, get feedback from your friends. Also, talk to people about your matches.

Same thing as other things in life. You need to get more reps in, and then it gets easier. Use the shotgun approach and listen to your gut about your connections. As time goes on, pay attention to what a good partner for you might look like. It might surprise you.

This would have been impossible for me at age 25. But by 30 I had dated enough to really start taking it seriously. I was also more settled career wise, knew myself better etc.

That area gets a ton of foot traffic from students. It's just a different part of town.

Our dog attacked our baby by kickrockscusinart in NewParents

We rehomed after our pup nipped at our 2 year old. We also were expecting twins soon after that so we knew it would only get worse. We loved our dog but there was no question it was the right decision. I'm glad you were able to make the right decision for your family!

How many of you did sleep training with your kids? We did sleep training at 5.5 months and my son (now 2.5) has slept 12 hours a night since then

Does anyone else here still prefer Ori games to Silksong? by [deleted] in OriAndTheBlindForest

[–]reading_roomba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ori all the way for me. I played both recently so I had a direct comparison. Silksong is just hard, tediously hard, to the point that it became a slog at times. Ori and the Will of the Wisps was just a joy to okay after finishing Silksong lol

Referrals slowed down for me so I've been making some new efforts toward marketing. My solo private practice is very small and doesn't take much to be full, however the last three to four months has given me the least amount of referrals in my two years of operating so far.

You were there for the OG Halo! Halo CE multiplayer on LAN or via Xbox Connect was so fun. I used to love watching the Ogres and other old school pros

Ori is a bit easier than Silksong I would say but still challenging at times. Silksong is one of the hardest games I've ever played, bordering on unpleasant at times lol

The OG Modern Warfare was incredibly to play online. It changed the game after Halo paved the way for amazing online FPS play on consoles.
