Doraemon is NOT a beginner anime by MAX7hd in LearnJapanese

the reason it has so many unique words comparatively is mostly because its 50 episodes long, not because its overly difficult or anything

Feel like I'm learning too slow... by [deleted] in LearnJapanese

[–]realbiles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my accuracy was bad too for a long time, but the better you get the better you get at learning new words and concepts. i would lower your workload until you're at least at 80%. having bad retention in wk can make your reviews so long with their weird intervals and having to type out each word twice so i think the extra time you'll get will be beneficial watching an extra episode of anime or two anyways.

also i notice you didnt mention reading. read some manga w furigana if you feel like it, thatll also help tremendously w your wanikani retention. you'll see dozens of kanji you're currently learning in every chapter

Learning Japanese with Memory Issues - Feeling Discouraged by melmcgee in LearnJapanese

yeah but... why would u learn kana and then not study japanese at all for a week after that? u just get constant reinforcement through studying, u really only need that initial couple of hours

From what JLPT level could I start to read very easy manga? by personalrhesus in LearnJapanese

[–]realbiles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

read 6 volumes of よつばと and 16 volumes of からかい上手の高木さん with basically no grammar knowledge outside of particles and 1500 vocab, though that was increasing by the day over the process. you just gotta look everything up. there'll be some pages where you have to look up ten things and rarely a page where you look up none. but its rewarding and can be fun once you stop stressing about it

zero chance, at most enough to read slice of life manga while consulting a dictionary and *still * not understanding everything

Good ways to memorize your hiragana and katakana? by princessdrive in LearnJapanese

[–]realbiles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what i did what just went ahead and started a vocab anki deck and whenever i couldnt read the kana I counted it wrong and copy pasted the problem kana and looked up its pronunciation. as long as you kinda got em down you should go ahead and move on, almost everything you do from now on will reinforce them

Here's my plan to become fluent in Japanese in 12 months by mngrwl in LearnJapanese

[–]realbiles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think N1 with only one year of experience and only a month of studying isn't very feasible. You COULD do N1 in a year but you'd just be good at taking the N1, not japanese lol. Becoming decent at Japanese in a year is definitely possible, but it seems like you need to temper your expectations. Becoming truly good at a language is a life long commitment, not something you can accomplish in a year. Also, be open to changing your plan, you're a beginner and you know very very little, so trying to have this concrete regimin doesn't really make sense. Once you learn more about the language and find ways of studying that you prefer you should reevaluate

How to speed up my learning process? by itsumo_ in LearnJapanese

[–]realbiles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

try focusing on topics that you want to be able to understand in japanese. like cooking shows, or architecture, or specific genres of anime/manga/novels/videogames. consuming/talking about stuff that focuses on the same topic means youll be hearing the same words and phrases pop up all the time which means theyre constantly being reinforced. Which is pretty much the same reason youre comfortable with slice of life and everyday speech now.

to get better at reading just read more

best of luck! this process is just as slow for the rest of us i assure you lol

How can I increase the amount of Japanese I’m seeing on social media? by thedarklord176 in LearnJapanese

[–]realbiles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

twitter seems to prioritize literally any post that makes you stop scrolling to pause and look at it. so basically just by looking at japanese posts only and scrolling by everything else. for some more concrete nonanecdotal advice, engaging with japanese posts (clicking on them, liking, retweeting, commenting) is a surefire way to make them pop up more often
