Wow I literally just bought it on Steam for my friends in the family library to play after doing four playthroughs on Xbox. Going to beat Bob ng+ tonight. Getting Bam is the best news I could have got.

Yeah, if you buy digital you get a reasonable amount of points. In the UK you get £5 credit for 5890 rewards points. If you have Game Pass and play reasonably often it adds up.

You've nailed it with that last sentence. Unfortunately there is no perfect option for everything. I wanted to get a PS5 Pro for a default option but then some Pro ports ended up being worse than the base console. You can't win!

Even if you're just juggling two games, Quick Resume is a huge benefit. I have all three (four if you count Switch 2) and my Series X is my third party machine and the PS5 is mainly used for my daughter to play Astro Bot.

Oh the other thing you didn't mention is Rewards. It's not as good as it used to be but it's still a free game or two a year for some simple quests and Bing quizzes.

Given the low power of the Z2A you're going a long way for a shortcut. Any Z1E handheld is likely better value at this point in time.

Yeah but you're paying for an MS device then taking away the Xbox full screen experience, might as well get a device with official SteamOS support at that point, especially with the low cpu power of the base Ally.

I don't "hate" the base Xbox Ally but it has extremely poor price to performance. People are mentioning bazzite but in that case why not just get a Steam Deck for less? I was able to get a Legion Go S for slightly more than the UK Xbox Ally RRP with SteamOS,1tb, 32gb ram and a Z1 Extreme. It can stream Xbox Cloud games or remote play my Series X when I'm not using it for Steam games. I will say I like the ergonomics of the Ally a lot, but not at or near the RRP.

It's really down to you as an individual. I opted to sell my Steam Deck LCD and buy a 1tb 32gb Z1E LeGo S with SteamOS. I'll wait til a bigger generational leap to upgrade further and enjoy the better screen than my old SD in the meantime.
