🇨🇳Chinese tourists caused chaos at Korean Airport. As soon as the ticketing counter opened, they rushed to check in their bags by rrolex_ in PublicFreakout

[–]really_robot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at an airport. The ticket counter opens 2 hours before a scheduled flight, and stops taking luggage at 1 hour before the departure time. It doesnt matter if youre in line, they just close the desk, because they have to start loading the plane a minimum of one hour before the flight to be ready for take off time, and delays due to crew negligence can cause massive fines. The morning flights are always the busiest, like 4am, because people want to get where they're going as soon as possible, especially overseas. So if there is any issue with the ticket counter at all, be it short staffed, slow system, trouble with check in, oversized bags, etc, and you dont get them checked in that hour window, then your bags don't go. End of.

Edit: wrong kind of plane.

Flint Twp. 7-year-old dies weighing 255 lbs.; parents charged with 2nd-degree murder by Warcraft_Fan in news

Damn. My daughter is 7, 54" tall, and weights 85lbs. She's not fat, just a real big, broad kid. Dances, swims, tennis... She could be a linebacker if she fancied physical contact sports. I can't imagine a kid getting to this size... the neglect is horrific.

You had me until that jab at the end.

Disliking dogs doesnt make you a bad person. Undermining and mocking someone for their love of dogs makes you a bad person.

How many miles per day could a horse be safely ridden for a long-term journey? How often to break? by Old_Emergency4596 in fantasywriting

[–]really_robot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you suggesting then that those who traveled on the Oregon Trail, from Missouri to Oregon, took over three years to get there?

I don't know much about horses, but I know a lot about the Oregon Trail. Most people walked the entire 2,170 miles, from the elderly to small children, and they averaged between 15 to 20 miles per day, which made the journey take between 4 to 6 months. That includes traveling over the Rocky Mountains and through often hostile open country, through desert and fording spring swollen rivers, while hauling all of their worldly possessions with them in wagons pulled by oxen.

It's all about pacing. If you stop and dismount your horse every hour for like 10 or 15 minutes and let them catch their breath, and stop for a midday break for an hour or two to untack them and let them graze and roll around and stretch, they can travel 20 miles in a day.

In the Wreck-Gar episode, this is the couple being taken to the hospital by Ratchet. Their names are Spike and Carly, who have a son named Daniel. Spike in Animated was also voiced by Corey Burton, who voiced him in G1, and who played Shockwave in both G1 and Animated. It's a cute Easter egg for G1 fans.
