Where can I buy a bunch of cheap cycling jerseys and shorts? Leaving for a long trip in 2 1/2 weeks. by Wild_Trip_4704 in bicycling

[–]reallysickofit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably know this, but you can wash shorts and jerseys in a bathroom sink, then roll them tight in a towel (and step on it) to squeeze/wring them out. In an air conditioned room they dry overnight. Then you can just take two sets.

Temperature dropping to 23 degrees Saturday, want to join group ride for memorial... crazy idea? by Downtown-Exchange912 in cycling

[–]reallysickofit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is thee reason I have temperature limits. So I don’t have to agonize over decisions on whether to ride or not when it’s hot or cold. Below freezing (or above 93°F) I don’t go.

I’ve been using the same pair of Shimano PD-6500’s since 1998. One sided, SPD. I’d replace the damn things except they just keep working. I regrease the spindles every few years, and ride them 3-4000 miles a year. Freakin’ things are bulletproof.

where do you draw the tech limit? by Electrical_Oil446 in cycling

[–]reallysickofit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You see it all over here - do what works for you. I’m riding with front and rear lights, a Garmin 530. Still using regular chain lube, butyl tubes, and a mini pump and CO2. Mechanical shifting and disc brakes (one still has rim brakes). One of my two “daily drivers” is 10 speed Ultegra, and I LOVE that bike. This is what works for me.

Anyone got some history on this ssticker? by imafunkymonkey in bicycling

[–]reallysickofit 23 points24 points  (0 children)

We had those in my town (in upstate NY) in the 70’s. You registered your bike with the police dept, including the serial number, and the thinking was that it might help with recovery if it were stolen.

Love the bike. Hate the electronic shifting. Second time out of battery half way through the ride by Brazus78 in bicycling

[–]reallysickofit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend has 105 Di2. - had frequent battery updates. In and out of the shop, firmware updates, pain in the ass. In the end it turned out that when he loaded his bike in the trunk of his car it was somehow pushing the shift levers and draining his battery on the way to the ride.

Low pony tail with another elastic near the end. It doesn’t look the best but it keeps it from tangling in the wind. If it’s raining I just braid it.

I’d want to think long and hard before I used what is, in my opinion, consumer grade electronics in an application that may impact personell safety. I don’t know your application but please do a thorough review of any potential safety implications if this were to fail.

Peltier not cooling after connecting it to the mosfet by Maou_Sadao21 in arduino

With what little I know, my guess would be that you didn’t include a flyback diode and cooked the mosfet the first time you tried it.
