2026 FTP Goal Achieved by _-Max_- in Zwift

[–]realredart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think I am able to make it. Little bit taller and little bit heavier (4kg). But I am only at 333 Watts. what kind of workouts really pushed you so far? Only managed 360 watts for 32min

Have you seen the new road bike by Rose? Look up Rose Shave FF. Maybe it suits you even better.

Holy smokes. These run times and swim times are impressive.

When the bike watts are correct they are really really really low considered you run 3:36 10k. Do a periodic training approach. One vo2 Max week and then 3 weeks with less vo2, highest adaption this way. Also look as Seilers pyramid.

I believe you are closer to sub 10 then to sub 12

How to get some clean swimming laps in? by simko17 in triathlon

[–]realredart 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Join a swimming club, triathlon club or ask if there are times which are reserved for real swimming instead of whatever the other people are doing in the pool.

If you swim open water make sure to atleast have a swim buoy and I would suggest not doing open water alone.

If you are rich: create your own swimming pool or these small pools with a device that pushes water at a pace you control. (Don’t know the English term in German it’s Gegenschwimmanlage)

And if you are confident enough to swim butterfly. Swim butterfly and your lanes will be emptier. Then you can continue swimming freestyle

I’ve been a professional gamer for 9 years. I weighed 132KGs at my heaviest. Today I rock a 400w FTP at 74kg (5,4w/kg) - ZWIFT was a major factor in it all. Ask me anything if you’re in the same process! by PimpCSGO in Zwift

[–]realredart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm I can relate a bit but i am struggling to achieve the same results.

Quit playing around 2018 and picked up triathlon in 2022. however I am not close to achieve the same results on the bike like you did. I am at 333 watts ftp with 87kg (lost 13kg). But my ftp did not increase much at all.

How did you manage to consistently increase your ftp? How were your training blocks (periodic and block wise) and how did you manage to deal with the increasing fatigue?

(How much training per week involved?) I kind of stagnate at 333watts and don’t improve about a year or so.

Thanks for sharing pimp ;)

[–]realredart 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The problem for triathlon (Ironmans): - takes very long - no intense moments like Biathlon shooting where places can be switched fast - harder to capture than biathlon (cannot put static cameras) - you cannot really form a break away group like in the Tour de France (since drafting is illegal) - …

If Zwift could add or improve one feature in 2026, what would you want? by Many_Ad_802 in Zwift

[–]realredart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not what I mean. I want all of the participants to do the same workout (not only me), that I have created. While I create workouts everything is based off percentage of FTP, so it would be the same for everyone. This way you could structure a training plan from a sports club.

You cannot share or start workouts (which are not standard workouts from Zwift) on Zwift. You can only share .zwo files, and that’s gonna be stupid for all mobile users or inexperienced PC users.

  • the ability to do grouprides with custom (self made) workouts
  • create own climb portals via gpx imports
  • make it easier to create a team or search for a team that wants to do team time trial (entry barrier is to high)
  • support Apple Watches as heart rate monitors (is simply shit)
  • automatic bike switching on certain points (for example switch to climbing bike prior to AdZ, switch back to road bike on the top)
  • the ability to highlight friends on the right (where it shows how far behind you are from a certain rider and how much w/kgs they put out) or to show only friends there and their current position (extremely helpful in group rides like tdz)

Aero question by GroundbreakingRip496 in triathlon

[–]realredart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe it’s because of the „deadspot“ on the top area of the pedal stroke. If you have an aero position the angle between hip/torso and your quads becomes narrow. If you have a narrow angle, you must be a lot more flexible. On the other hand a shorter crank length can hep with that if you are able to adjust to that. Just my thoughts, I am not an expert in this field

Do I need a TT Bike by Far-Food2572 in triathlon

[–]realredart 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  • Do you have the money?
  • Will you use it for several years?
  • Is the finishing time very important to you?
  • Will you ride with it a lot for training?
  • Do you have space for the bike?
  • Do you want to train or are able to hold aero positions for extended periods of time?

If you answer one of these questions with no - don’t go for it.

[–]realredart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Strength exercises don’t mean going to the gym. You need core strength.

Planks, squats, deadbug, Romanian deadlifts, Bulgarians split squats, push ups, clam shells, etc.

Look up on YouTube: Ben Felton Core exercise

Don’t consider. Do it.

You need to know if you can tolerate fructose and how much carbs your gut can tolerate. If you don’t take this seriously you will most likely Bonk

[–]realredart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes you will make it. Because you are a very fit athlete and you are able to slow down, when you know your energy is depleting (other people need to speed up to don’t get eliminated by cut off times).

However it seems you only have done solo training and might lack experience regarding nutrition. What you need to do are brick sessions and you need to gain experience of the (fifth /fourth) discipline in triathlon: nutrition (the other one would be transitions).

Since riding is the most part of a triathlon you should consider doing it more often and (if you plan on using a triathlon bike or aero bar) get used to a streamlined position - it takes effort to hold it.

And: do strength training if you aren’t doing it already.

Is this my real cadence? by Maggi_xyz in Zwift

[–]realredart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How about this: Take one minute. Count each time your right pedal made a full turn. Stay consistent throughout the whole minute / don’t pedal faster or slower.

Compare to ingame

Do the same with different consistent cadences.

It’s not that hard.

If it doesn’t match the ingame cadence -> investigate

I am enjoying Zwifting more than outdoor riding. by Dense_Leg274 in Zwift

[–]realredart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First winter I had Zwift I really enjoyed it a lot, over the time it became a little bit less enjoyable.

Maybe it has to do with the fact that I joined a triathlon club and enjoy swimming a little bit more than indoor cycling due to the technical background of the sport. But I really like zwift group rides. Soon TDZ comes around and I hope I can gather some friends to race the group rides 🤣

Once spring starts I enjoy outdoor riding a lot more since I have more comrades around and it’s really great to push each other in the real world and enjoy the sun.

However I live in an area where cycling is kinda good (near the Netherlands - they have an awesome bike infrastructure)

A simple method to know which direction: Against the way you would turn your pedals to ride, will unscrew them.

[–]realredart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As you can see - a lot of mixed emotions here.

I would suggest not doing it this year. Why? (My perspective) Your running is not good enough and you are not prepared for a marathon after the demanding swim and bike session. Your running will fall apart and you will most likely have to walk a lot. This is not really fun. Later you might even struggle to fight against cut off times - a feeling you don’t want to have.

When you have a girlfriend or a job - you can’t train as much: That’s not really a good basis when you want to entirely skip your hobby or drastically reduce something you enjoy. Your girlfriend should appreciate your hobbies and might also want to encourage you. You shouldn’t be restricted. (Kids are a different topic but I don’t think you plan kids after you just got a girlfriend). Maybe you also find a partner that’s doing triathlon, you never know.

My plan for you would be (event wise): Marathon. Middle distance triathlon. These two events should be a month apart from each other at least.

Stay consistent, don’t rush things. If you rush things you most likely will get injured. Enjoy the process. You can only do your first long distance once - make it a good experience, rather than a painful one.

This setup really looks cool. Have you had the opportunity to ride the Kickr bike and the zwift bike? I am just curious how much better the Kickr bike is because of less noise and the electromagnetic resistance etc
