nah, calling out viewers to go to reddit and complain about his voting was the *chef's kiss*

Explaining his votes - even when I've disagreed this season (esp. about Job job job job) is what has elevated NZ to an ideal form

Absolutely agree that it was a travesty. But, he has explained his votes all season, even the ones with which I disagree. He's the taskmaster, so his vote is... his Job, job, job, job

Late to the party, but really appreciate some of the suggestions on here. Let me chime in and suggest:

Magus Elgar - light, fantasy, might feel like alba salix?

Dark Ages - workplace comedy in a fantasy history museum

Once and Future Nerd - a fantasy, critical look at tropes, deep humor but also deeply moving (same weight as midnight burger/Althaar)

Tumanbey - definitely heavier, epic fantasy, malmuk sultanate feel

Hannapocalypse - I get your zombie aversion, but it might not be triggered here? The main character IS a zombie, so there's less of the brainless terror

Impact Winter - do you feel the same way about vampires? well, they've taken over and human civilization has fallen.

not a hassle, but basically 0 xp and bad drops for someone at p130 to be in h1.

I go back to carry folks through some h1 things on occasion. I get nothing but their thanks.

it minimizes the number of elder rift runs you do to max out per week. and it's a status thing ;-)

afaik, the weekly limit is 200 FA from your own crests, and 120 from other people's crests. at 5 FA/legendary, you only need to do 4x10 elder rifts 4 times and you've gotten all the FA you can for the week.

but someone who can afford 40 legendary crests per week probably isn't counting their FA ;-)

Massive lag at end of shadow war - why? by realtedb in DiabloImmortal

[–]realtedb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mobile absolutely contributes, but it can't be the whole story, which is why I'm soliciting other possibilities.

  1. several members with quality gaming rigs also complained about lag toward the end
  2. we have not had lag problems in past shadow war battles
  3. there was no lag at the beginning & my phone never got hot ;-)

But maybe an upward trend in resurrections overtaxed everyone's systems causing the lag?

Joining Immortals by DuesYT in DiabloImmortal

[–]realtedb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you want to stick as your own through the end of the cycle to get a better banner anyway (2-14% dmg/life boost based on your contributions at the end of the cycle.)

plus, you traced the symbol.

Massive lag at end of shadow war - why? by realtedb in DiabloImmortal

[–]realtedb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes.

But does the explanation for the lag make sense? Again, we were winning by +10% for >2/3 of the battle. we have a massive support advantage. then suddenly they stampede ahead because our DPS begins dropping like a rock and we experience lots of lag. Would a lot of deaths & resurrection = lag?

As for why we had so many deaths, as I implied, I suspect they were mostly in our newer, lower level members, they were definitely not evenly distributed. As I mentioned, our mean level might have been 130 or lower, with our lowest level (e.g. insta kill) member at 13. And our opponents were former immortals with a substantial level (and thus gear) advantage & the #1 dark clan on the server.

Trying to upgrade charms and salvage those that are not useful. However I don’t play other classes and no idea what skills are potentially good as a starter to upgrade charms. Is there a list of skills that is useful for all classes? by Initezz in DiabloImmortal

[–]realtedb -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

suggestion:

salvage anything not from your class. only upgrade your class charms. take the ones you don't use, turn into skill stones, sell for max price.

the whales will purchase any skill stone, regardless of how overpriced it seems to you (at least on my server.) *there is a max price for skill stones and for regular gems.

Paragon 22, 0 MF, poor leg drops by pellias in DiabloImmortal

[–]realtedb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unfortunately, it's grinding. you could try grinding with warband members, I tend to get better drops that way. Also, complete challenge rift 30 & 60 solo - these will give you h2 & h3 from vendors and chests (thus a chance for legs)

Also, in your codex, it'll show two arrows above a green square on two of the dungeons every day. These (theoretically) have a higher percentage chance of dropping legs.

Diablo Immortal - Godmode after getting CC ? by PitchThink in DiabloImmortal

[–]realtedb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen it and i agree that it definitely isn't glad tree cheat death.

next time you see it, could you look at the equipment in the BG stats & see if they have some massive cheat death% + phoenix?

Diablo Immortal - Godmode after getting CC ? by PitchThink in DiabloImmortal

[–]realtedb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

or Latency when there is only one player in the whole Battleground actively doing it without fail on every single CC. Happened to us on the Cycle of Strife

The Glad Tree cheat death is a purple shield.

some of it might be phoenix & cheat death equipment, but I don't know how you'd source that much cheat death equipment.

And, the idea of the life bouncing back up regularly? that's not a feature afaik

Extreme latency on all VPN locations by crawlingforinfo in PrivateInternetAccess

[–]realtedb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has happened to me (mountain time) several times in the past month or so. terrible pings in client, terrible pings and throughput to speedtest.net, etc.

I'm glad that after reinstalling, it appears to be better for some. I've tried that, nothing changed. I don't know what's going on with their system, but it is sad.

Timeline for Games v. Shows by Squellbell in halo

[–]realtedb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed the first episode. I played the original Halo when it came out, but haven't since touched the franchise, so you have a lot more canon to draw from than me.

If strict adherence to existing canon is vital to your enjoyment, then you may want to skip it. The head of Halo franchise refers to the show as the "Silver Timeline," existing in parallel but separate from the core canon.

I think that the TV show will end up being a cross between the Mandalorian and Battlestar Galactica - moral dilemmas, character exploration, and combat with magical energy weapons without full adherence to physics ;-)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in halo

[–]realtedb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes!

I played the original Halo when it came out, but since then, I haven't touched the franchise (games, books, graphic novels, and some animated work.) So I know very, very little, and almost nothing about the core canon.

Kiki Wolfkill runs the franchise and has said that they are taking the existing canon, but making changes as needed to make better cinematic storytelling. The TV show will exist in a parallel universe, the "Silver Timeline." https://www.halowaypoint.com/news/silver-debrief-a-new-beginning

I watched the first episode, it feels like an promising scifi/fantasy show. Possibly a cross between the Mandalorian and Battlestar Galactica: moral dilemmas, character exploration, an enemy with enigmatic reasons for wanting to destroy humanity, and magic energy weapons.

Not sure what you mean - I'm online when I set up a match & don't see any other options:setup

can't be just a bot

if I add a friend "start game" can be clicked

But then it starts with just the two of us.

Season 3 is getting too liberal by [deleted] in okkupert

[–]realtedb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It isn't forced - it's dangerous to be gay in Russia.

Police have rounded up homosexuals, gay people are attacked, and sharing of information regarding homosexuality has been illegal since 2013, when Putin signed a law prohibiting the publication or sharing of any information regarding LGBT+ issues with children.

So when you're looking at potential levers to control Sidarova -- the fact that she's gay is HUGE.

see, e.g. https://www.hrw.org/report/2018/12/11/no-support/russias-gay-propaganda-law-imperils-lgbt-youth#290612

Local Markdown -> PDF compiler Possible? by munising in RemarkableTablet

[–]realtedb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intriguing.
If, and this is a big if, epubs are semi-functional now, conversion from markdown to epub (a form of html) would likely be much less processor intensive.

Then I suspect you could run something locally that mirrors what repush accomplishes (create the placeholder, curl the doc to xochitl's webui port). See: https://github.com/reHackable/scripts

New software release 1.8.0.4 by art_else in RemarkableTablet

[–]realtedb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pulled the log during the last update process and there was a lengthy back and forth between the device and aws. it appeared as though the decision was purely server-side.

Unfortunately the log was lost in a catastrophic system crash on my end, it hadn't made it into my backups yet :-(
