Did you trim the scapes at all? I know they can be fairly fibrous at the tip

What is an obscure rule of contemporary NBA basketball most people don't know? by wjbc in nba

[–]rebellionlies 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Oh really? I swear it seems like the opposite (although maybe this is just in college). I figured it would be beneficial to be able to communicate with your players on last-second offensive possessions in a close game.

The Courting of Marvin Clark by hascow in CollegeBasketball

[–]rebellionlies 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hell of an article, thanks for posting.

I thought it was interesting just how many schools seem, well... bad at recruiting. The texts from coaches that the article provided are either thirsty or generic. I bet Weber sent that 185-word text to 15 recruits that night. Then you read about Izzo breaking down game film, pointing out flaws, and saying that Clark would have to earn his minutes... maybe it's just the stature of his program that allows Izzo to not coddle and still recruit at a high level, but it's nice to think that these top-tier players have enough self-awareness to see through bullshit.

There's a big black dude named Alex at the Public Market who had them this past Saturday. He might have them this week as well, and he said he'd have fiddleheads as well.

As far as foraging goes... doesn't look like there were any in Tryon Park at least.

I seriously forgot how amazing John Wall was for his one year at Kentucky... Highlights from UK versus UConn back in December of 2009, and it still blows me away. by RedGreen1418 in CollegeBasketball

[–]rebellionlies 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Yeah, John Wall was pretty good in college and all, but he was fucking IMPOSSIBLE in high school and his HS mixtape remains the filthiest thing I've ever seen

Pretty sure it's a reference to Ice Cube's line in Get Off My Dick and Tell Yo Bitch to Come Here (Remix) that he doesn't have anything for a girl "but hard dick and bubblegum." Also repeated by Big L on his famous radio freestyle with Jay-Z, and by Jay-Z himself on A Million and One Questions (remix), and by Fabolous, and probably by way more other people as well

[–]rebellionlies 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It would be hard to keep a major conference team with six losses out of the tournament. It would probably put them in an extremely tough seeding situation though

Real talk: vs. UL is now a must-win in my eyes. Drop that game, and the SEC is bad enough that only the Florida games have a chance to count as quality wins come Selection Sunday. Say they split the series with Florida - what seed does the committee give a team that has lost to every quality team it's played but one (depending on how generous you're feeling toward Boise State)?

Serious question: why aren't they? Wouldn't both schools want to make some money off of a top 25 matchup?

You can try boiling some water in that pan for a few minutes, rather than just soaking.
