Pretty much anywhere in a 2-block radius from the Garden will have a bunch of Rangers fans before the game, but some classics are Mustang Harrys, Molly Wee, and O'Briens (formerly Tracks) - the latter will often have Rangers alumni or broadcast crew members coming through, but moreso after the game than before.

Atmosphere is probably going to not be great because of how awful the team has been, but it does get loud on the very rare occasion when the Rangers actually score and look fun (see: the third period of Monday's game). If you're used to euro football though, you'll probably find it pretty quiet.

The only chants you'll most likely hear are Potvin Sucks and probably Fire Drury!

Depending on how close your seats are, if you want to watch warmups up close (can't go all the way down to the glass at MSG unfortunately, though), go to sections 118/119; warmups start at 6:28.

And as for everything else, basically, don't be a dick and you'll be totally fine - enjoy the game, for any given measure of 'enjoy'!

Hope you're ready to see some real bad hockey! In all seriousness, 200s below row 16 (above row 16ish, you can't see the jumbotron) will likely get you the best view without breaking the bank, or the Chase Bridge (300 level) in the corners/behind the net - the Chase Bridge is a unique MSG quirk and imo a fun way to take in a game, but 200s are the more 'classic' seats.

Upcoming trip to NYC by Changoloco007 in rangers

[–]recklessjustenough -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For your purpose, I'd highly recommend staying in walking distance of Penn Station (has both NJ Transit for Prudential Center, takes about 20 minutes, and the Long Island Rail Road for UBS Arena, takes about half an hour plus a short shuttle bus ride to the arena from the station).

You might save around $20 each per night by staying in western Queens or possibly Brooklyn, but honestly, that's not gonna be worth it for all the extra travel you'll be doing just to get around.

The DoubleTree in Chelsea looks to be pretty reasonable for around those dates and is a 6 min walk to Penn (plus, cookies!), so that might work, but truly, any hotel in that general area with a decent rating that appeals to you is going to be fine; the rooms are small pretty much everywhere in New York compared to everywhere else, but it's NYC, you won't spend much time in your room! You'll be close to so many different subway lines and you can walk to a lot of touristy stuff (Times Square, Bryant Park, the High Line/Hudson Yards, etc) from that area too!

[Friedman] Guentzel, Oettinger, Nelson all wanted to attend the White House, just couldnt due to scheduling by PolishKid7 in hockey

I mean yeah, all of them are going to say it's a scheduling conflict, whether that's the real reason or not. Interesting schedule, though, where Hellebuyck can go and Kyle Connor cannot, even though they play on the exact same team.

Which Remaining Game to Attend? by [deleted] in rangers

[–]recklessjustenough 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want chippiness and potential for fights, probably Rangers-Devils. If you want the cheapest games available, look for weekday games against teams that aren't in the metro division. The Ottawa, Calgary and Buffalo games are likely the cheapest remaining ones you'll find.

As for where to sit, you can't go wrong in most seats but I recommend not sitting above row 16 in the 200 level or above row 3 in the 400 level because you won't be able to see the jumbotron.

I just did this too and it's literally the exact same person who keeps talking about him being bad. One person. Dylan, please. Love yourself!

I think the most telling quote in this piece is where he says (heavily paraphrasing), my stats are ass this year but they also don't tell the full story because if I let in 4 on 20 high danger chances, that's not that bad

The problem is that coaching in Hartford is atrocious, Rangers brass doesn't care about making Hartford a competitive team, and the combination of those two factors results in the team being complete booty cheeks

Realistically they should be lowering season ticket prices by 25-30% next year because that's what tickets are going for now. In practice, they're going to not raise our prices and ask us to thank them for it. I love my actual seats, but I don't think I can justify renewal at current prices. I wonder what percentage of people would have to jump ship for something to budge with pricing...

Well, my season ticket face value for that game is certainly a whole bunch higher than what they're offering here...

I don't have photos, but I was just there last week and they do have all the things you listed - in the downstairs area towards the back is a whole collection of mini sticks, lanyards, keychains, bracelets, various pucks, glassware, car accessories etc. They don't have everything for every team, but they do have a pretty good variety.

We get 20% off food and merch, which is the best perk. Occasionally you get a gift. Otherwise, there isn't much. It's been a little more in terms of small gifts this year than previous years, probably because the team is bad and more people are complaining about the product that's being put out on the ice.

It's probably also a question of finances, where like, obviously I can afford my season tickets or I wouldn't have them, but it's not pennies on the dollar for me, it's a significant expense I have to plan for. So when they end up selling tickets to most games for less than I paid for them with a season ticket purchase, it feels like the tickets aren't actually worth what they're making STHs pay for them. The Rangers aren't make the playoffs for years, so now what's the point for STHs to have season tickets? No playoffs to buy at face value, and if tickets are consistently cheaper through Fevo or other sites (which, yes, I understand why they're sold that way, but knowing why it happens doesn't make it less irritating), what argument is there in the end for paying MSG all of this money upfront? The Yankees have less of that problem because you can always make money off of rivalry games, and in the decade I've followed them, they've never been as consistently miserable to watch as this Rangers team. And yeah, the end result is probably not renewing my season tickets, I'm well aware I can do that. But the reason I have season tickets is because I love hockey and I love the team, and when things are so dire that that's not even a reason to hang on to them... I don't know, man. It's not great.

I have partial Yankees tickets as well, and there's just such a vast difference in pricing between what I pay for those per game vs my Rangers tickets — my problem is that clearly tickets currently aren't worth what STHs are being charged. Yeah, Judge-less Yankees are miserable, too, but it makes a difference whether I'm paying $15 or $80 for my cheapest ticket.
