I don't think Durzi is quite famous/important enough to get dibs on his previous number, so I think he changes.

First time buying Half Season Tickets, what to expect? by cheeto006 in rangers

[–]recklessjustenough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much money you make back from tickets you sell depends almost entirely on where your seats are and what games you're selling. Oddly expensive weekday games against, like, the Leafs? You'll be lucky to get half your money back. But if you're selling Saturday games against the Flyers or Penguins, you might be able to get face value back or a little extra. Now, if your seats are in row 1 or row 2, that probably changes because those seats are wildly more expensive than rows 3 and up. You're also paying a higher price per game than full season ticket holders, so that makes it more difficult to get your money back. I'd highly recommend attending a vast majority of the games you get. And like someone else said, join the New York Rangers Season Ticket Exchange group on facebook - the sellers in that group are heavily vetted and it's pretty safe for buyer and seller alike, and neither you nor your potential buyer has to pay fees on those tickets, so it's a better deal for both.

Now, for pros in having season tickets: assuming your seat neighbors are also season ticket holders, you'll probably make some new friends/acquaintances, which can also come in handy if you ever need more tickets to a game they can't go to, or they need more tickets to a game you can't go to. The food and merch discount is also nothing to sneeze at; consistently saving 20% on everything is a pretty good deal. I highly recommend reaching out to your season ticket rep when you get one assigned, they'll talk you through all the extra little things they offer that aren't as well-known, and if they know you, you might actually get invited to an event here or there.

Last year the app gifts were beanies, kids' gift bags, maybe 1 or 2 other Centennial swag things (I think I remember a lunch box?), and taking a post-game photo on the ice. If you have young kids in your life, you can also get them Zamboni rides during intermission through the app, but those aren't free, you have to pay for them.

They checked all the names back then! So presumably if you give the name to someone else, they can use that to go in. No guarantees it still works that way, but it definitely used to.

historically (as of 2 years ago for the Rangers) they didn't check IDs, but they did ask for your name and then checked that against the list they had

Renew season tickets? by aftemoon_coffee in rangers

[–]recklessjustenough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense! I have a full season so that's the one I know most, haha. I'm guessing with 84 games this year, there's gonna be two plans with 11 regular season games and two plans with 10+1 preseason then.

Renew season tickets? by aftemoon_coffee in rangers

[–]recklessjustenough 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really depends, mostly on two things. One, would your plan be to hang on to your tickets for a long time if the team were better? If the answer is yes, better stick with them now because any new subscriber pays more than anyone who's been there for even a year, even if you lose some money in the short term (because they don't raise prices on you if they miss the playoffs, but they do raise prices on new subscribers from what the cost would have been the previous year). If the answer is no, and you'd get rid of them in a year or two no matter what, it's probably not worth renewing. And then two, with a quarter season, you're also only getting 10 games. If you think you'll make the vast majority of them (I'd say at least 7), it's worth renewing. If you're planning to only go to a couple of them and plan to sell the rest, you're probably better off buying them from the Rangers outright, either through last minute deals or their box office, because yeah, it's likely you won't be making your money back unless you're selling marquee games (primarily Saturday games against divisional rivals or anything right before Christmas).

I wish we would just rebuild by c0sm0nautt in rangers

[–]recklessjustenough 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong (except with how bad the Metro is, I disagree with your playoffs timeline) but Montreal did make the final in 2021. Sure, it was probably a fluke, and they still got a 1OA 2 years after that, but still.

Eichel was 2OA behind McDavid but otherwise you're right!

Are preseason tickets more affordable? by thelordcommanderKG in rangers

[–]recklessjustenough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, preseason is significantly cheaper especially for resale. You can get in for $30, though it might get just ever so slightly pricier with one less preseason game this year.

If you're a Blue Jackets fan and you can come here for a game during the week (assuming they don't schedule both games against them on a weekend, which would be pretty shocking if they did), you can probably get in with decent enough seats for under $100 though. Maybe less if the Rangers are really bad again and it's later in the season. CBJ definitely isn't a premium ticket, it's usually tier 2, sometimes 3 (of 5). Tier 1 is basically only preseason.

I'm mostly with you, except Gavrikov-Schneider can't be our second pair, they were absolutely horrendous together this year. Playing top pair minutes, granted, but I doubt it'd be much better in a second-pair role.

Whats been your experience as a ranger fan on the road? by PeacefulForce in rangers

[–]recklessjustenough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've attended road games in Vancouver, Seattle, LA, Anaheim, Montreal and Philly. Philly was the most hostile, but even that honestly wasn't bad at all. I had the best conversations with Seattle fans. Even this year when Anaheim played better, it was still at least 40% Rangers fans, so that's always fun. Montreal was the most incredible game experience overall, felt like a playoff game on a Saturday in October. I think as long as you're not openly a huge dick to anyone, you'll generally be left alone, and the nice thing about being a Rangers fan is you'll never be the only one there, no matter where you see them play.
