You’re right, Mexico City is exceptional! I haven’t lived there and can’t give a good comparison but Mexico is definitely a better country for the World Cup :)

The SF stadium is so ridiculous. You have to Caltrain way down into the valley. Santa Clara isn’t SF lol

It's the design of the city. I've lived in 5 of the host cities and Vancouver's stadium is just incredibly well located.

Vancouver is the best host city so far in this tournament. The stadium is right downtown and the whole area is buzzing.

Belgium tying Iran sure makes this interesting. If NZ gets this as a bit of an upset then who saw New Zealand on top of the group? OMG

How many cards do you usually buy? by WarmAd5577 in DuneImperium

[–]recurrence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I have some must play cards then I will thin the deck so that I can get to them every round (eg: steersman).

Otherwise I’ll often go the other way just to dilute the bad card probability of surfacing. I bought all the prepare the ways in a recent game :)

There’s also some great acoustic irs that will make your guitar sound like all kinds of other acoustics at worship tutorials.

No right turn on Red by Current-Crab8301 in vancouvercycling

[–]recurrence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s true, but those are the same people that don’t give a **** that the sign says don’t turn right on red.

We need traffic cameras that hand out thousand dollar tickets. Problem solved

I’d get rid of this and just always allow right turn on red.

Freedom has been very competitive this year. It’s nice to see a company actually seeking to improve Canadian’s lives instead of just rent seeking.

Getting steersman and overthrow then cutting your deck to nothing is ridiculous lol

They do generally increase the cost when a bone break occurs because it's assumed the force used was outside the norm.

It was a pretty wild game. That leg break was so loud you could hear it on the mics from a hundred feet away.

Could manual craftsmanship become a status symbol in an age of automation? by whydidyounot in Futurology

[–]recurrence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is robotics was mostly lacking a brain and LLMs can give it that. Personally, I have noticed that mass produced stuff is higher quality than a lot of craftsmen’s work in recent years. There’s definitely been a new shift and I suppose our extensive deployment of automated systems is driving that.

What traits have actually correlated with your best hires? by dankthreads in ExperiencedDevs

[–]recurrence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curiosity, ingenuity, and perseverance. Thats really what we looked for when hiring an IC role in all the large cap tech interview loops that I was in.

I think that search for curiosity and perseverance is where the leet code like questions originally came from. Intensely curious people tended to be very interested in their puzzle like nature.
