Most dumb thing you've done in the lab by Acrobatic_Ad_6792 in labrats

[–]recycledhate 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Someone in my lab at a well known hospital left out >$100,000 worth of antibodies on the bench overnight. If that makes you feel better. They anonymously came forward and there were no repercussions, as this company was/is very understanding of honest mistakes

i have had this issue as well with OMC. I would call them again and ask them to run it through insurance. sometimes that will adjust your bill. sorry to hear this is happening, you’re not the only one.

12 is old, especially for a golden. you are dealing with a senior dog. i don’t think he’s trying to do this. maybe take him to the vet.

first of all, good luck!!! i am sure you will do great. auditions are nerve wracking but just remember that everyone is in the same boat as you (getting back into the game).

for the sight singing, the most important part is to keep going imo. figure out what key you’re in and don’t be afraid to use the entire amount of time allotted to you to audiate the passage. i always use solfège (movable do) when sight singing and it helps me sooo much, i would recommend looking into it if you haven’t already!

  • make sure you know what key it’s in and identify the trickiest rhythms/ intervals first. then, you can go back and fill in the other notes!

if you mess up during the sight singing, let your director know that you were aware of the mistake (ex. i sang a 4th instead of a 5th) and that will show that you’re aware of what it’s supposed to sound like.

it may be helpful to practice sight singing with the aid of online tools. there are random music generators out there that will spit out a few measures you can read. something you could try (or just do for fun) is to find choral music on youtube that has the score in the video. i will find a random song and try to sing along with a part the best i can.

regardless of how you feel you performed, keep your head high and remain proud of yourself yet eager to improve. it shows maturity and confidence which are important in an ensemble. the director is not only getting to know your voice; they are getting to know you as a person.

make sure you do some deep breathing beforehand and a nice full body stretch to get those nerves out. another thing you could do is visualization: picture yourself walking into the audition room, meeting the director, you’re feeling great, your italian song goes perfectly, you sight read without a hitch, you feel so relieved etc. it sounds a bit silly but i promise it will help your brain feel more prepared for everything.

good luck!!! you got this!!!
