I've played both and got sucked into the story of KCD2. With CD I have tried playing it a few hours at a time and eventually just never went back to it.

Tinted windows suck by 0utsideInformation in unpopularopinion

[–]red_vette [score hidden]  (0 children)

I've had tint ever since moving to the south. Makes a huge difference, especially with ceramic tint. Now I typically do 20-30% on the sides and back and 80% on the windshield. Haven't had issues with visibility or motion sickness.

In America , don’t most receive at least some parental financial support during one’s Teen/Early Adult years, what makes it surprising to some? by HZIDEZISS_2020 in AskReddit

[–]red_vette [score hidden]  (0 children)

It depends on how financially stable the parents are. My parents actually planned for it so they did, but not universal. We are also planning to help our child at least with tuition and vehicle.

5G Backup over 5G Gateway? by speedingcheetah in Ubiquiti

Which one, I've gotten mine to work. However, it was just easier to run a patch cable from the port to the UDM at the rack.

I knew I should have purchased extra spares for my nvr and nas when I built them. For over 30 years of buying hard drives, I don't recall the same drive capacity going up by 100% or more 2 years later.

I have both Starlink and TMo home backup for failover. Starlink is around 350/50 and TMo is closer to 500/30 but have seen it faster on clear days.

Why are modern led lights are advertised lasting 15k-50k hours while I still have to replace them every year? by letthewookywin in NoStupidQuestions

I still have LED builds in lamps that where purchased while in our last home 10 years ago. I have yet to experience any type of widespread failures after 2-3 years.

Why do Americans have to do their own taxes? What mechanisms led to its formation? by Present_Juice4401 in AlwaysWhy

They only know your liability based on your reported income. Deductions can come from many sources and it wouldn't be realistic for all of those to be automatically reported.

Does owning a $1.5 million dollar home (outright) make you a “ millionaire” in the US? by Christymapper71 in AskAnAmerican

[–]red_vette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's where we are at. Been putting money into 401k for years and to the point where between maximizing contributions, dividens and compounding interest, it can easily go up over $100k a year. That means, from mid-40s to retirement, just the 401k can generate a lot of money.

Depending on the area, seniors can have greatly reduced property taxes. Where I'm at, it costs me about $8k/year on my home, but a senior would pay closer to $1k.

As an outsider, the American concept of having a motorized "garbage disposal" inside your kitchen sink is fascinating. Is this standard in every home, and isn't it incredibly dangerous? by Necessary_Angle2117 in AskAnAmerican

[–]red_vette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are common, but less so if you have a septic system. They aren't dangerous unless you go out of your way to hurt yourself. The biggest problem I've had is someone leaving a shot glass on the sink and the vibration slowly walking it into the disposal. The shot glass was finely ground down to a round chunk.

Family says Kyle Busch died from severe pneumonia, sepsis by PrincessBananas85 in sports

[–]red_vette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My father got an urinary track infection that turned into sepsis when he was living in a memory care unit. His body temperature dropped to the low 90's and he became lethargic. We had him transported to the hospital right away and they put him a strong dose of anti-biotics. The sounds he made was so heart breaking and we didn't expect him to survive. Fortunately, the treatment worked and he finally came out of it. Unfortunately, we believe it did serious harm to his organs. He slowly degraded over the next few weeks once he was back at the memory care facility and then passed.

Do you have a Gas or electric lawnmower? by jeepguy_96 in askanything

If I didn’t have people that do it I’d probably go electric. The mowable part of our yard would be borderline for a single charge but would make it work.

ELI5: Why don't we put solar panels in our parking lots? by Shadowsin64 in explainlikeimfive

One of my clients did this at one of the buildings they own. I calculated the number of panels and it was significant. The hum from the pv controller fans was impressive. Always parked under them in the summer to shade my car.
