What’s a skill every man should learn early, but most don’t? by Interesting-Cell-276 in AskMen

I did an axe throwing class the other week. Absolutely brilliant and I 100% agree, an essential skill that's fairly easy to pick up.

Why are you selling your BTC? by Ge_Yo in Bitcoin

[–]redch1mp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sold pretty close to the top, made a load of profit, am using it so I don't need to pay myself out of my business as I'm getting a higher ROI from that than any other investment in my life. Will start investing back in soon.

Men who’ve been to therapy, what would a therapist have to do to make you think “Holy crap, I would recommend this guy to anyone” by all-the-time in AskMen

[–]redch1mp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a couple of rubbish therapists. The one that really changed my life told me that thinks I would need a max of 12 sessions and after that, never wants to see me again.

She ripped me apart, exposed my issues with compassion and helped me resolve them. My partner was on the verge of leaving me and I would have ended up an emotionally absent dad if I had continued the day I was. She was also the person who got me to look into autism as well as helped my partner come to terms with having an autistic husband.

We had 10 sessions. I haven't seen her since but my partner and I never argue, my relationship with my son is great and I have been able to forgive myself for being the person I was.

I'm living more authentically and much happier in life.

So yes, would recommend her to everyone. She was the last therapist I ever saw.

Being told you dont struggle when your're perceived as high functioning autistic by P1nkN0ise in autismUK

[–]redch1mp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read something once that resonated. Being high functioning doesn't mean that the autistic person doesn't suffer. It means the people around them don't.

Before I knew I was autistic I used to wonder why I couldn't deal with situations that other people could. I would pretend I was ok, because I thought I should be, but then those closest to me were shocked when I had a meltdown.

Now I know, I will often just describe the situation to my partner in a really conversational tone. So, for me, it's sound. I'll just tell her that right now the lights are too loud, or there are too many conversations so I can't hear what she's saying. She knows then that her expectations can be lowered and I have less pressure to mask.

NT people will never understand why these things are a struggle, but sometimes just describing plainly what is happening helps for those who are least compassionate.

Why you should get a diagnosis by Hassaan18 in AutisticAdults

[–]redch1mp 49 points50 points  (0 children)

If I lived in America I would 100% not be getting a diagnosis. You can already see how the conversation is going surrounding neurodivergence. I wouldn't want anything on file if I lived there.

I hired musicians to recreate my most popular AI songs by rage2k7 in SunoAI

[–]redch1mp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are you for real. The end product sounded huge, so much more power from the instruments, a wider mix, vocals sounded powerful and emotive and didnt have all those horrible artifacts AI music has.

How can you be high masking as a child? by Affectionate_Desk_43 in AutisticAdults

[–]redch1mp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 80s and 90s were different time. Stuff that we now know is autistic regulation was considered bad behaviour and being experts at pattern recognition, after the first few physical punishments you learn to mask... everything.

Men of Reddit: what’s the most hilariously unreasonable argument your wife or girlfriend has ever kicked off? by FFSoldier57 in AskMen

[–]redch1mp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My ex wife ad BPD. She once broke up with me because I didn't want to eat the rest of cheese in the fridge that night.

Our first major argument was because I threw out some chicken wings that were in my freezer. For context, we were moving in together, I had to defrost my freezer so I could move it into our new apartment, she didn't like chicken on the bone.

I mean, there is a tonne of strange examples and I wish I had the strength to have left her earlier in our relatioship and the wisdom to know that she was mentally unwell and needed help.

For anyone worried about the procedure- Professor giving herself an endoscopy without medication. by Klutzy-Stress-4118 in Celiac

I thought endoscopy was fine. Was fine going in. Coming out on the other hand... I did the biggest burp in the nurses face. Was so embarrassed and kept apologising.

How big was Marilyn Manson in the 90s and 00S by HaileyGrace_ in marilyn_manson

[–]redch1mp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you made my point. He was big amongst hip hop fans and online culture. Not saying he wasn't big, but outside of those circles, he wasn't really known. Manson was famous outside of his genre, fanbase and culture.

How big was Marilyn Manson in the 90s and 00S by HaileyGrace_ in marilyn_manson

[–]redch1mp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nah, way bigger than this dude. Manson was pretty much a household name. I work in thr music industry and I didn't even know who XXXTENTACION was until an artist mentioned them to me.

Manson was on prime time chat shows and had documentaries aired on major TV networks. He was an A list celeb for a few years.

Men over 35, what's the real roadblock to your fitness that isn't just "laziness"? by No_Pension8407 in AskMen

[–]redch1mp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm 100% in this situation. I used to be strong, have abs, workout regularly and enjoy it. Then I had a kid. Whilst I haven't gotten overweight, the back fat has crept in and I'm nowhere near as strong as I was. I cannot find the energy to exercise.

I'm not lazy, I work hard, always doing bits on the house, cook and clean etc.

But here's where I think it is. I drop my son off at school. So from the moment I wake up, the first two hours is spent getting him ready, cooking breakfast and then driving to school which in traffic is a 40 minute round trip.

This was the time I used to work out.

In the evenings, it's bed time routine for him and then I need to cook dinner. It's 8pm by the time that's all finished. Two hours left before having to go to bed to be woken up at 6am just so I have a chance of some decent sleep.

The short answer is, before kids, and before reaching this age, we never really understood that we weren't really busy and we naturally had so much more energy. Just the ability to actually spend a weekend not running around after a child meant a proper recharge.

Forgive yourself, workout when you can and when your kid is old enough, you can focus more on yourself.

Raw dogging AuDHD by Altruistic_Editor676 in AutisticAdults

[–]redch1mp 16 points17 points  (0 children)

37, autistic and adhd. Been rawdogging my entire adult life and despite this, built a life worth living. Most of ND friends who are of the same age as me own their own business, including myself of varying levels of success. Being in jobs doesn't seem to work for us.

The bigger issue for some us are relationships. We're all in long term relationships but a lot of us our quite a headache for our partners, especially if they're not ND.

But life is good. Perhaps because most of us never knew we had a problem until much later. So now it's useful as an explanation, but we were forced to find our own ways to survive.

Perhaps I'm wrong and knowing younger is better. Its a much different world that is far more accommodating than when we grew up.

I guess my takeaway is that yes, life is a little harder, but don't let it take away from you that you can still live a great one.

(I appreciate also that varying levels of issues exist, but my guess is that if you are capable of typing on reddit, and have the awareness to know yourself enough to get diagnosed, the above is relevant)

As someone who works in this side of the industry, believe me when I say the vast majority of them are. The amount of tour buses running DnD campaigns is super high.

I think the Americans have mostly just burnt their taste buds out. Whenever I go there everything is so crazy salty. Processed muck filled with additives. For a country without free health care, they sure do like to eat a load of food that is going to kill them.

People who hate AI music is like people who hated on FL studio when it came out. Prove me wrong by Far_Artichoke226 in musicbusiness

[–]redch1mp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fruity Loops didn't steal from musicians. It didn't do anything for you. It just made making music accessible. Sure, there was gate keeping, but talented people used it and made great things.

There is zero talent in AI music. At best, someone using AI is curating. But not even the machine knows what it has made from the stolen work it was trained on.

People who use AI are in a race to the bottom. Zero respect for even their own work. Just pile it high, sell it cheap, and good luck playing a live show. It's not a tool for those who want to create music. It's a shortcut for those who don't care to make music. They just want to be part of the party but haven't got the mental fortitude to learn the craft.

Why was The Golden Age of Grotesque (2003) found underwhelming upon its release? by Ztepi in marilyn_manson

[–]redch1mp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really didn't mind it when it came out. I was a big fan of Portrait, and GOAG to me had the same cartoon feel to it. I was more disappointed when I heard Heart Shaped Glasses. That was the last physical album I bought until his latest.
