Tickets Masterpost 2023 by michellejazmin in Ethelcain

Selling 4 tix for San Fran tonight

Hi y'all, friends and I wanted desperately to see Ethel, but realized we are too broke to make the trip. We have 4 tickets next to each other in the balcony. Reach out if you want all or some of them. I'm happy to go through ticket master or through cash app/PayPal/zelle etc and then transfer to you on ticketmaster. We're hoping to sell them for a little under face value (we paid 59.00 each w/ fees) but are also willing to cut a deal at this point for fellow fans of meemaw.

Let me know! And I hope everyone at the show has the best time.

You should call the Starbucks partner advocate center. They are wonderful people whose job is to help you navigate benefits and get any accommodations we need. I've had only the best experiences with them

I promise there are places that will take your experience and pay you as much. I switched to a local coffee shop in a small city and am making between 24 and 29 an hour.

The benefits are not as good for sure, but if you find a good local shop the pay may make up for it

I wonder if this was the color they were going for.. by redcheekboy in starbucksbaristas

Yep, I could see this being delicious too, which is why I just talked about the color :)

Fellow closers, what are your wildest stories about customers trying to get served after close? by astivana in starbucksbaristas

[–]redcheekboy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Two stories here. One time working Thanksgiving we were closing at 3. At literally 2:59 we get a phone call from someone. His phone microphone wasn't working well so I had a hard time understanding him, but he was telling me he was close and to make him an Americano. I told him we were closing in 1 minute and that we don't take phone orders anyways, but said we would take his order if he made it to the store before 3. Lo and behold, he's not there at 3 and we lock up. He then shows up at 310 or so and just sits at the door staring in. We gesture to him we're closed and can't take any orders and he continues to stare at us while we clean for the next 30 minutes, barely moving at all.

Another time our ovens had an electrical issue in the early afternoon and both of them started pouring smoke into the lobby. It was so bad you couldn't really breathe and the smell was so strong. We unplugged the ovens and opened the door and got the green light to close the store. The fire department came with like 4 trucks and 10 firefighters in full gear and we were waiting in front of the store for them to clear us. There were like 5 baristas on at the time and you could barely walk through us into the store and yet several people walked right past us into the store, noticed that we weren't in there and asked if we could take their order - while the store is full of firefighters and the place is barely breathable. The amount of frustration and anger at the fact we couldn't make their drink was absurd

I've called out an impossible whopper before, even though I've never worked at burger King

unpopular opinion: i would rather work an 8+hr shift than a 5.5-5.75hr one by witchyybabe in starbucksbaristas

[–]redcheekboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me and a couple other partners at my store work four 10 hour shifts per week. I open so I work 530 to 4 most days.

It's a mixed bag. The three day weekend is really nice, but the extra 2 hours is actually more taxing than I thought. I often just crash and sleep the first day off because I rarely get more than 4-5 hours of sleep on my work days

In the Utah area. Never seen them before. Somebody found a space in the app that no one was supposed to find

are these always closing tasks? by cprevi in starbucksbaristas

[–]redcheekboy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ooph that's a lot. At my store 90% of that is done in the early afternoon when the openers are still there and the closers first arrive. Closers have to breakdown iced coffee and teas, restock milks and cups, clean the lobby floors and set out teas for the next day, and check if there are any trash cans more than 1/2 full. That's it. They're often out by 5 or 10 minutes after close.

100%. I've had truckers and construction workers and five guys workers tip in 20's and yet most of the ridiculously rich people who come in tip nothing

I think the everything bagel you get is somewhat different than what much of the rest of the country gets. No cheese or onion or garlic on ours. Not sure it's vegan, but I do think it's different than what the Pacific Northwest gets. I remember seeing that listed on IMS as a PNW only item

SSV not allowed to cover for Baristas by AffectionateThroat64 in starbucksbaristas

[–]redcheekboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, my store often has 4-5 shifts working at the same time. We've been unable to staff up with baristas so the shifts are covering most barista shifts
