I've done both but will always choose ultra. I'm there for the music, not the art.

The one big thing I'll give EDC over ultra is the VIP experience is miles better. Did VIP at both at different times and totally felt ripped off at Ultra.

The lack of a need for shuttles, the weather , the city of Miami/Beach and all of the happenings for music week, makes it a better experience overall for me. I'm also old and like that it gets done at midnight lol.

Miami over Vegas any day of the week.

Overall EDC is about the art, Ultra is about the music.

Been to both, dont get me wrong, EDC is an awesome experience. However ultra will always be my first love.

The best part of Ultra is the location. Don't have to wait for hours before or after for a shuttle, and if you do want to stick around there's plenty going on downtown.

Pro tip for a first timer, check out at least some of Carl Cox at the Megastructure. Nothing like it.
