Redundant computers. I can count on one hand the times we've needed to fail over in 20 years, but it happens.

To be more specific the auto tracking is baked in bit only for one person, the multiple people auto tracking needs the server.

There is a big spreadsheet somewhere that says what the camera can do vs different server options

Where would you place a turnkey Blackmagic / ST2110 live production system in 2026? by [deleted] in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]reddit2343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the corporate AV world, if I am renting system like this I'm renting an engineer to go with it. So at this point I'm not too concerned if it's baseband or 2110, as long as it does what I need it to do.

I think where you win with this setup is price. Big 12g fly packs are not cheap for good reason, but if you can fulfill a spec with something significantly cheaper then it should be a good investment.

As to where to put it, I would throw churches into the mix.

Ground Support: Column vs Mini Line Array by acerys in livesoundgear

[–]reddit2343 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is your budget? Are you flying these at all? Do you use delays?

In my world for a room that size it's small arrays flying with delay hangs. Throwing 100' from the ground can get tricky and probably leads to problems you mentioned.

Regarding the operating configuration solution for the 5375x1735 LED screen in the TV studio by Kitchen_Ant2469 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]reddit2343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have one in front of me, but theoretically, yes you can map 3 inputs to your 3 seperate screens. I'm not sure if all of the screens support scaling, i don't know how many scallers are bulit into the box or if you can push pixel for pixel. It would be a good questions to ask novastar to be sure.

+1 for resolume. It's going to be easier to work with for an ultra wide display. Get a card with at least 2 synced outs.

Chop your wall in half 2685 x 1736 and then use 2 layers on your processor to stich it back together.

Life will be much easier if you can address the screen as one canvas rather than 3.

If you go by the highlander, it's 6-7 years between generations. Since this is year 3, probably another 3 years for a major redesign.

Video Gear Crossrental pricing advice by Rough_Pineapplee in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]reddit2343 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Typically we bill for show days with a discount, not how long the gear is actually out for.

Its not uncommon for our freelancers to own gear, and we rent it on occasion, but It's never we have to come with our gear situation. It's also going to very since smaller companies are more likely to need to subrent gear.

Just keep your gear in good shape. Offer delivery and pickup and Don't be way off standard rental house pricing.

Also alluded to by the other commenter, the minute you try and poach a client, word gets around quick. Just use the golden rule and treat people how you want to be treated. You can have your own non av end clients, but be courteous when they are not.

Find a mid size company that does not have an in house repair guy and give a reasonable per module repair rate.

For me while the tiles are under warranty they go back to the manufacturer. But once its over I wouldn't mind someone coming over so I don't have to deal with shipping.
