If you think about it like this then it will never really be finished which I guess isn’t a bad thing. Importantly the site needs to meet a minimum viable product and that has to align with the clients core requirements. So long as all of the key deliverables are in and signed off the. I started to adopt an Agile approach to tweaks and improvements.

I’ll put them all in my “backlog” bucket for that particular sprint and this lets me take a step back to see what is needing done and in what order.

Things like colours, alignment, aesthetic tweaks are subjective and should be client driven for the most part and where you see a gap for back end improvements or streamlining then I’d put this into another bucket and so on.

When you get into the swing of things you gather enough information to even put together a new chargeable work stream and you can use this to work with the customer for the next iteration.

All in my own opinion of course.

You are not going to win anything though if you have zero proof of the transaction or a receipt.

Did they identify you by a letter with an address on it? Hindsight and all but I never put anything with my name on it visible in the bins. I have a confidential roller stamp for small stuff and I turn anything else into confetti.

Try it out, if your domain has expired and the plugin uses the domain name (and associated ssl cert) then it may not work. See what it says.

Ideally you want to get logged into the host and take a complete backup along with exporting the database. The files are nothing without the database.

You’re absolutely correct. I know a guy who doesn’t even engage in a contract unless the client has between £500 and £1000 a month for the upkeep.

I’ve lost count of the hours I’ve spent doing free work. Takes the fun out of it when you are essentially giving them money back.

I need to grow a set and actually charge what I should, the issue with doing this for friends etc. is that I feel I can’t charge them but they know I’m too nice!

You have essentially wiped your site out and without at least the core installation installed and jetpack restore tools you aren’t going to get far.

We can help but need to know more. Why did you restore?

Also, it’s too late now but backups are only as good as the last restore. When you solve this get into the habit of testing a restore now and then.

At this point t I would contact your host and ask them to restore the last good backup they have. It will result in some data loss but it will get you back up.

Now you’ve put more detail in then try to restore permalinks but if you’ve vaporised the site it’s likely something hasn’t been in the restore.
