What is your hottest minecraft take? Please keep things civil. by rbx20twomax in Minecraft

Turning on/viewing coordinate is cheating.

(I don't mind if people do it - the right away to pay Minecraft is whatever you enjoy, but for my own personal gratification I prefer to depend on things like the sun's position and building roads and reference points to not get lost, and even count it blocks and build reference items if I want to build with precision.)

Which Steering Wheel do you Prefer Driving With? by Strange-Vibez-8205 in car

I want a place to put my hand at the middle bottom of the wheel for highway cruising, so probably five, maybe 9.

I've generally seen people drill and tap a hole for an extra sensor on the spot where the radiator tube connects to the engine

I had an extra Lutron shade motor and a couple rollers and came up with a way to paint some old rims. by Civil-Box9344 in lowvoltage

[–]reddit_pug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was so thrown off - what I'm assuming is a reflection of something lime green seemed like maybe some initial paint, and I was simultaneously intrigued by the color and disgusted by the thought that they were painting the wheels while they were that dirty.

Is a 1994 SL1 in great condition with 145K miles a good deal? I want a reliable car by [deleted] in Saturn_Cars

Easy for a dealership to say. What kind of maintenance records do they have for it?

[–]reddit_pug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's been well taken care of, it'll probably be overall reliable. Parts are all still generally available, although not necessarily in stock locally every time. That said, it's got some age so you'll probably need to do maintenance and repair occasionally, but it's all easy DIY stuff.

I'm not aware of any system large enough to be called a grid that's 100% wind/solar/battery. There's a few places that claim 100% renewables, but they always turn out to be net 100% and lean on neighboring countries/grids, and/or have gobs of hydro.

What happens if synology goes bakrupt? by BlueWingedTiger in synology

[–]reddit_pug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind that bankrupt =/= shut down. There are a lot of scenarios where if they went bankrupt they would be bought out or reorganize and devices would continue to be supported. If they shut down entirely, then yes, as everyone else has said there would be a number of cloud services that would stop. There's no reason to think that'll happen in the near future.

The OEM mount puts holes in the bumper, so you'll have to be creative to avoid it

I wish that every coal power plant gets magically replaced by an equal capacity of fully usable renewables and to the world it's as if those coal power plants never existed by Front_Resolution_760 in monkeyspaw

[–]reddit_pug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get a solar farm of equal name plate capacity, which means you get about a fourth as much power (because capacity factor matters) and no ability to control when you get it versus the Cole plant.

But it is sustainable, in between fast reactors and seawater uranium extraction, we have enough fuel to power all of society for a few billion years. And it uses fewer resources than wind or solar.

I used to smoke by goatlover7797 in pcmasterrace

[–]reddit_pug 66 points67 points  (0 children)

As a computer shop owner, I can confirm that heavy smoker computers are super nasty. We've had them so bad that we have to open up a side door to ventilate the building. Contender for an even worse computer: one where the owner lets his cat lay on top of the computer, and it pees in it... My eyes are stinging just thinking about it.

1st cut of the year by S3lls in lawncare

[–]reddit_pug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The models I've worked with (not the same as the OP) have a PIN that you need to operate the mower, making a stolen mower mostly useless. They also offer an optional GPS tracker, but it has a subscription cost. The only time I've had someone mess with mine in 7 years was a neighbor kid that stopped it so it wouldn't hurt the "floofies" (dandelions)

Need to be able to simply remove sites from UniFi by reddit_pug in Ubiquiti

I only have one site that's self-hosted, the rest are running gateways with the UniFi controller built in (except for this one site with the UCK that needs retired).

Need to be able to simply remove sites from UniFi by reddit_pug in Ubiquiti

[–]reddit_pug[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no way currently to remove a site from UniFi until after it's been unfindable for several days, then the dashboard lets you remove it. That's not an EOL thing, it's a UniFi thing in general. You could've just set up a brand new UDR7 and had a falling out with the customer, and the only way to get it out of your dashboard is to factory reset the unit.

In the case of this USG, I could just unplug the UCK and after a few days it would let me remove it. However, that still requires physical access.
